“I bet a lot of the increase in deaths the last two years was due to folks not getting the care they needed, not getting checkups they could have discovered deadly diseases etc.”

We lost a SIL, who was like a real sister because she never had a checkup after the Corona blitz. She died of severe sudden onset of Leukemia.

We are at 6 friends, who have died re your comments.

My wife had a hip replacement postponed for close to a year due to Covid stuff, not her. She finally got the replacement on 1 March of this year.

She was in constant pain in her left hip and her left knee and left foot. The knee and foot pain disappeared within less than a day after her successful hip replacement.

She used a few pain pills post op and basically got by with ice packs.

Now, we have another Covid surge and in even emergency situations were delayed in getting critical ER treatment for people we know.

My wife’s brother back in the midwest needs a knee replacement. Due to more Covid B$, he is in a holding pattern like his sister/my wife was last year and the first quarter of this year.

sorry to hear that- we’ve known people who died during covid too- I’m guessing a lot of elderly lost their lives too in nursing homes because they wouldn’t get them the care they needed during pandemic- The holding patterns is killing peopel and worsening conditions that coudl be treated now-

“The holding patterns are killing people and worsening conditions that could be treated now-!”

That is what is scary for older people and many younger people.”

We keep hearing about relatives, friends and people we don’t know, who are also not getting good preventive health cares or even timely ER care. This past weekend appeared to be a nightmare re timely ER care at all of our hospitals. A 3-5 hour wait in their cars before seeing a doctor or an RN in some cases.

6 weeks before on a Saturday morning, my wife on a 5:30 am pee break smashed her wedding ring between the door frame and her sturdy Rollator walker grip.

We could not get her ring off, so I drove her to the local ER. An unsaid thought was how many drunks failed to kill themselves on Friday and had jammed up the ER.

There was no line, and in 3-5 minutes my wife was on an ER exam bed being examined by a tech, she knew as one of her patients.

In minutes, the ER doc showed up and did his prelims and had has the ER’s ring removal expert working on the ring removal.

The ring was off in about 40 minutes, we were headed home in another hour of monitoring.

My wife’s quick, professional and excellent treatment a few weeks before might not have been a reality this past weekend in any ER.

Without a doubt and not just nursing homes... I had two family members who died under those circumstances. One had cancer (age 82) and the other a gall bladder operation (72). Both were waiting endless for treatment until it was too late.

Dang, sorry to hear that- our government is responsible and they don’t care- states like NY are directly responsible for 10’s of 1000’s both by what they did sending sick into nursing homes, and by preventing the use of ivermectin and HCQ along with other meds- and also by their inaction- preventing people from seeking help when they needed it

our friend’s mother who is quite elderly, got covid and was doing badly, and she was taken to the hospital by the daughter- they were in the ER for 26 hours before they could properly get to her- because it was so jammed with people and because the hospital was so understaffed-
