Sen. Rob Portman (R-Ohio), a leading Senate advocate for supporting Ukraine’s war against Russia, crossed into Ukraine Sunday and called on the Biden administration to step up its shipments of artillery.

Portman announced his visit while at the Ukraine-Moldova border crossing at Palanca.

“I also had the opportunity to speak with several Ukrainians crossing the border and hear about their concerns about what Russia was doing to their country,” he tweeted.

Portman also met with senior U.S. military officials and allies in the region, traveling to Stuttgart, Germany, and Bucharest, Romania.

“Based on my briefings and discussions this weekend in Germany and Eastern Europe, including with senior Ukrainian officials, I believe the administration should immediately provide artillery to Ukraine that can more effectively counter the Russian weapons,” he tweeted.

Portman says the administration should give Ukraine the MLRS mobile rocket launchers its government has requested.

“These are defensive weapons needed to protect Ukraine. Our allies and the U.S. must continue to give Ukraine the tools it needs to defend itself from the brutal Russian attacks,” he tweeted.

Portman has previously noted that the MLRS rocket systems are one of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s top requests.

“After. My briefings at EUCOM today, it is clear that although the Ukrainians are fighting bravely in the east, they are outgunned by the Russians. These MLFS systems can help balance the field in Ukraine’s favor,” he said Friday, referring to the U.S. European Command.

Portman is co-chair and co-founder of the Senate Ukraine Caucus and has spoken regularly on the Senate floor in support of Ukraine. He is also a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

Give that man a rocket launcher and send him to the front.

“Portman says the administration should give Ukraine the MLRS mobile rocket launchers its government has requested.”

Sorry Portman, no WW3 for you. What’s left of Biden’s brain stomped out that sick idea.

As it is, our Howitzers use GPS for guidance of their shells and Russia isn’t exactly a bunch of goat-herders technology-wise. So our guns are pretty much reduced to lobbing shells and hoping they get lucky enough to actually hit a military target, once in a while.

He knows he can get away with anything since he’s retiring at the end of this session of Congress so he’s letting RINO and neocon hang out.

I agree with him.

Give Ukraine more long range artillery with a greater reach than Russian artillery has. And more drones. Lots more drones. More anti-ship missiles.

Let’s deplete the entire Russian military if Putin continues to refuse to pull out.

What sarcasm? Give him a pack and a rifle and send him to the front. Send him - no helicopter him in so we are sure he gets there and can start serving immediately.

Put me down for Putin nuking Russia. I think if Putin tries to launch they will have a misfire and set one off inside Russia.

He is performing his post-politics defense lobbyist career initiation ritual. You know, kinda like a gang banger killing somebody to get accepted into the club.
