Senate Republicans and Democrats are rebuking claims from President Joe Biden and Treasury Department Secretary Janet Yellen that United States tariffs on Chinese imports have helped spur record inflation for American consumers.
Sens. Rob Portman (R-OH), Sherrod Brown (R-OH), Mitt Romney (R-UT), Kevin Cramer (R-ND), Mike Braun (R-IN), Robert Casey (D-PA), Rick Scott (R-FL), James Inhofe (R-OK), and Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) have written a letter to Biden urging him to keep in place U.S. tariffs on billions of dollars worth of China-made products.

How many things has Biden tried blaming for inflation except for what he has done to American Energy producion. He knows what he did and is still trying to deflect it somewhere else. He thinks there are enough people mentally slow enough to be convinced, but he is forgetting that there are Republicans out here, the half that are above average intelligence.
Trump put in some tariffs on some Chinese made products to made the imported products a bit more expensive for US consumers. It was done as an attempt to allow US manufacturers to make similar items and not be underpriced by the imports.
He did it to support businesses and US workers and also to encourage US firms with offshore production to bring production back here. Tariffs with this intent are OK with US voters who want MAGA.
Write all the letters they want, Joe’s going to do what Obama and the main boss Xi tell him to.

--Shortages of goods and feedstock materials due to slow-handling of ships at sea and new regulations on trucks.
--Labor shortages due to government policies that make "work" unnecessary.
--Demand of goods and services increases, in a large part due to illegal aliens storming our border.
--Dramatically lowered supply of domestic oil and gas.
Voila...inflation (on steriods).
None of the above has anything to do with tariffs, and absolutely everyone knows it.
IIRC, the tariffs went to the industries directly involved. I know they were a big benefit to farmers in particular.

Of course the tariffs drove inflation. That’s what they are designed to do. They reduce access to low cost products. Go back and look at the FR tariffs threads from that time. The pro tariff crowd admits they will drive inflation.
