‘In the crosshairs’: Department of Navy releases climate change strategy
NY Post ^ | 5/28/22 | Geoff Ziezulewicz, Military Times

The Department of the Navy this week released its strategy for how it will deal with climate change and proceed toward the government’s goal of net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

“Climate change is one of the most destabilizing forces of our time, exacerbating other national security concerns and posing serious readiness challenges,” Navy Secretary Carlos Del Toro said in the introduction to the 32-page report. “Our naval and amphibious forces are in the crosshairs of the climate crisis and this strategy provides the framework to empower us to meaningfully reduce the threat of climate change.”

Setting the department on a course to combat climate change is a main priority of Del Toro’s tenure. He called the issue “existential” for the Navy and Marine Corps.

“If we do not act, as sea levels rise, bases like Norfolk Naval Base and Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island will be severely tested in their ability to support their missions,” he wrote in the report. “If temperatures continue to rise, the oceans will get warmer, creating more destructive storms requiring our Fleets and Marine Corps forces to increase their operational tempo to respond.”

The Department of the Navy’s “Climate Action 2030″ plan seeks to reduce emissions and installation energy demands by increasing carbon pollution-free electricity options, while helping the force prepare to operate in potentially volatile future climates.

Everyone's got a 2030 plan. Solar powered ships and subs? Gonna put sails on the ships?

Just dry dock all the ships and the ocean level will drop. Sheesh!

If FDR’s navy had the same attitude as Biden’s navy, right now I’d be doing slave labor for Tojo’s grandson.

More ass kissing.

We have an Environmental protection Agency and several other civilian agencies to deal with this.

These idiots really DO want to lose the next war, because our likely adversaries don’t give a damn about climate change, and they’ll kick our ass the old fashioned way while we are worrying about leaving a carbon footprint.
!@#$%^& Democrats.

The Navy and the Pentagon have been deep in cuckoo land on this stuff for a long time.

Someone needs to start saving these “plans” because they keep pushing them every 10, 20, or 30 years. First it was Al Gore’s garbage plan, and we should be under water by now. Now it’s 2030, 2050, etc. The only reason why they keep pushing it that far is because most of us will be super old or dead.

Navy should go full nuclear, and micro nuclear power - including bases, all power
transmission insulated!

As should all other branches (all bases).

Global Warming is not due to human contribution of Carbon Dioxide - Global Warming: The Cold, Hard Facts? By Timothy Ball

No Smoking Hot Spot (The Australian)

Those two articles take Greenhouse Theory at face value and by the criterion set up in the theory itself finds no evidence of warming on the basis of greenhouse effect.

Sky-high hole blown in AGW theory?

"Forbes reports on a peer-reviewed study that uses NASA data to show that the effects of carbon-based warming have been significantly exaggerated. In fact, much of the heat goes out into space rather than stay trapped in the atmosphere, an outcome that started long before AGW alarmists predicted:"

That article explains why no Hot Spot has been found.

The Hidden Flaw in Greenhouse Theory

Falsification Of The Atmospheric CO2 Greenhouse Effects Within The Frame Of Physics

Harvard astrophysicist dismisses AGW theory, challenges peers to 'take back climate science'

Simple Chemistry and the Real Greenhouse Effect.

Those four articles each show that Greenhouse Theory itself has no basis in reality due to a direct conflict with the known laws of physics. No wonder the smoking gun "hotspot" can't be found.

Claim That Sea Level Is Rising Is a Total Fraud

That article kills any thought of planetary warming from any cause apart from the inter-glacial period we are in. Think about it. If there is absolutely no sign of an acceleration of sea level rise how could the planet be warming? The rise in sea level in the last 100 years is far less than the average over the last 18,000 years caused by the inter-glacial period we are in.

If this is the type of thinking that preoccupies the Navy, then it is doomed. Their leadership ought to be primarily concerned about the vulnerability of all their surface combatants in this modern technological era. Instead of protecting their ships and sailors, the admirals preen in virtue signaling and political posturing.

yep, I hear you.

I recall hearing proposals, to instruct the military to take climate change and carbon footprints into account ,when planning military actions.

Can you imagine, if General Eisenhower had been compelled, to consider the carbon footprint when planning the Normandy invasion????
