I strongly disagree. If the mission Desert Storm was so successful then why did we have a Gulf War II? Saddam Hussein stayed in power and we had to maintain a military presence and suffer constant attacks until Gulf War II and that was a disaster that morphed into the ISIS Caliphate and the destruction of Syria and all that horror which is ongoing.
Based on the parameters of the mission it was a success.
Desert Shield was the defensive deployment and Storm the response to Kuwait.
Other successful operations were Panama in 76 rousting out 200 plus Cubans. Dominican Republic in 64. Both involved 82d Airborne Division... Panama 76 incl SF.
The World would have been better off with Saddam in power. Instead, we have made Iran stronger. Complete insanity of our leaders from Carter to Obama.
