WASHINGTON — President Joe Biden on Wednesday invoked the Defense Production Act in a major step to boost the supply of baby formula.
The announcement means the federal government will prioritize key ingredients for formula production and compel suppliers to provide the needed resources to formula manufacturers ahead of other customers ordering those goods.
In addition to invoking the 1950 law, which allows the government to direct manufacturing production for national defense, Biden also launched a program that will use U.S. military aircraft to import formula from abroad.
“Today, I’m invoking what they call the Defense Production Act to ensure that manufacturers have the necessary ingredients to make safe, healthy infant formula here at home,” Biden said in a video from the White House.

Perhaps the truth is The White House has run out of Ensure, so we need an executive order. Both are Abbott products.
What does baby formula have to do with national defense?
Do they feed our troops bottles of baby formula?
Are they recruiting infants into the military?
This is just a banana republic euphemism for “Big Boss Says Emergency Law.”
Totally meaningless.
IT doesn’t matter if they provide ‘resources’ when 40% of the manufacturing capacity for baby formula is shut down by the FDA and will take weeks or months to get back into production.
The are more competent in Mexico. No baby formula shortage there. Or in Guatemala, etc.
Or in Canada.
Which makes me wonder why we aren’t ordering supplies from them. I don’t think they covered by the tariff that affects other shipments of formula.

How about we worry about the Chinese for a change. We are playing penny ante poker in Ukraine and the Chinese are playing for control of the whole world. One screw up and our lives change in a huge way - Bankruptcy no supply chain from Asia, and otherwise a world of hurt. That’s if the whole country isn’t a smoking ruin after Russia gives us a good working over.

SO the planes have taken off? If not, why? This has been one of the many problems with Biden’s White House....when days count, they’re a week away.
I’m sure that some higher-up at the FDA had been told to take their time investigating the death of the two children but to be sure that production was halted in the meantime.
Someone’s head should roll for this. I wouldn’t mind if that happened literally.
