HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -- The suspect in a Makaha murder this week made his first appearance in court Friday and authorities confirmed that the victim in the brutal beating was his own mother.
Joshua McPeek, 19, allegedly punched and stomped on his mother ― Michelle McPeek ― in the middle of Farrington Highway after an argument.

Yes there is and it comes in a variety of calibers.
Hawaii has been that way for at least half a century.
We lived in a suburb of Honolulu 1968-71. In ‘69 or ‘70 there was a double murder in an upscale area.
The way I remember it, a woman was visiting her ex-husband and his new wife (who was pregnant). She was staying as a guest in their home.
They were going somewhere in their car, the couple in the front and the ex-wife in the back. She produced a gun and executed both of them.
She was found guilty at trial, I don’t remember the sentence she received, but it didn’t matter, because a year later she was released and allowed to leave Hawaii.
The authorities said that she wasn’t a danger to anyone else, and that the victims had deceived her.
When the story said “teen” I thought they were misreporting but yep he is a teen.
Had a case like that here in southern NJ about two years ago.
I was doing my job in the ER when a woman was bought in with her head beaten in so badly there was brain matter in her mouth and nostrils.
The person who did it to her was her own son.
What sentence did the son receive?

From what I understand he was deemed ‘’insane’’ and remanded to a youth detention center and from there I think he was going to jail.
I didn’t see the woman when she was bought in, but from what I was able to learn there was really nothing they could do for her and she died soon after she was bought in.
Cleaning up what was left of her wasn’t pretty.
My God, that poor woman suffered.
How in the world could a son do that to his own mother?
