Former President Trump appeared to cast doubt on former Vice President Mike Pence’s viability as a 2024 presidential contender, saying in a new interview that it would be a “hard” election for Pence should he choose to run.
During an interview with CBN News published Wednesday, the Christian news outlet asked Trump about Pence’s chances at the presidency should the former vice president choose to run. “I don’t want to say,” Trump responded. “If Mike got in, I think it would be a hard one for him. I think it would be a hard one. I understand where the base is. I love the base. The base loves me. I think it would be hard, but Mike was a good guy. I thought he was a very good vice president. He was my friend.”

Trump said some very nice things about pence. People will get pissy.

It’s ludicrous to think Pence would run for president.
Surely he and his associates know this. If he does run it would be for nefarious purposes.

Pence would get his butt kicked like Dole and McCain and Romney. Worthless choices.

With all the anti-Trump Republicans having been exposed as nothing more than Assistant Democrats, they would do well to remember the old saying: “When given a choice between a Democrat and a Democrat, the people will always vote for the Democrat.”

Pence will get 5%, a little above Dan Quayle ‘00 numbers.
Anti-Trumpers want someone with no “taint”.
Pro-Trumpers want Trump. Will take DeSantis if Trump doesn’t run.
Neo-Pro-Trumpers (younger, more politically plugged in version) want DeSantis. Will take Trump if DeSantis doesn’t run or gets beaten.

I imagine Trump had to bite his tongue to not say that that is the only thing about Pence that ever would be hard.

Trump needs Pence’s supporters.
Pence won’t even run in 2024. He knows better than anyone that he’ll never be elected President.

Trump needs Pence’s supporters. True, there is a segment of religious conservatives that like Pence.

Is Pence dumb enough to run for president? The base detests him.

Pence on one side; Asa Hutchinson on the other.
What a choice ... potentially.
If Trump doesn’t run, two-dozen more wannabes will be testing the waters.

Pence is a moron. And a back-stabbing SOB.
Mike Pompeo was Trump’s only loyal Cabinet member and would be an excellent excellent choice for his VP.

Anti-Trumpers want someone with no “taint”. Everybody's got "taint", it's a question of finding the one with "taint" that's the best fighter.

Our side does not want some kind and gentle Mr. Roxgers type but a Maximus gladiator. And right now that is only Trump or DeSantis.
