Liberated or Conquered? Let’s use the right word.
A real WAR between Russia and Ukraine would last 24 hours or less. The ONLY reason this operation is lasting any longer than that is that Russians are taking extreme care not to harm civilians or civilian ifrastructure. That should be obvious to anybody who isn't blind.
This is more like a rescue mission, since Russians still generally view typical Ukrainians as fellow Slavic Orthodox Christians.

But I have seen interviews with civilians around Mariupol/Azovstal and they looked credible. They were too old to be Russian film stars. They were asked questions in Russian and responded. Old ladies. “Who was shelling you?” “I don’t know. I just know buildings were being hit.” “Were there Ukraine troops here?” “Yes, they broke in and insisted on staying in my apartment and wanted to take food. I told them no and to get out. They got angry and I thought they would hit me, but they didn’t and left. They did the same with my neighbors. They said they had to stay in this building so they would not be shelled.”
“When the Russians arrived, how did they treat you.” “They ignored us mostly. They were not kind. They didn’t want to deal with us. We asked for food and water and they brought some. It wasn’t much.”
That looked believable to me.

So, a country that freely elected a leader, no matter how you dislike him should be rescued from their stupidity by bombing their cities to Kingdom come, is that you solution?
If so, someone should “rescue” the United States from our stupidity for allowing Joe Biden to be elected.
