Appropriating Nazi imagery to make themselves fell like real badasses, like some biker gangs and the Aryan Brotherhood. This is not to say they’re not a nasty piece of work. But they’ve not the Dirlewanger Brigade either. Hopefully they won’t get to that point.
That’s all well and good, but most posters around here just describe all Ukrainians as “Nazis”, not just the Azov battalion.
If having some part of your army displaying Nazi regalia makes the whole country into “Nazis”, then the Russians are twice the Nazis that the Ukrainians are, since they have not one, but two units under their command which have a similar fascination with Nazi regalia.
