The Republican National Committee made a bold decision that the media elites treated like an anti-democratic outrage. The RNC pulled out of the allegedly bipartisan Commission on Presidential Debates.
This decision is not an outrage. It's long overdue. The Democrats are allergic to doing any primary debates on Fox News. It's only in the last two cycles, the Trump cycles, that they accepted a Fox News moderator in the fall -- and that was Chris Wallace, who escaped to CNN.
Republicans should be very demanding about what constitutes a fair debate. At this point, the RNC should copy the DNC approach and avoid any primary debates on any of the Republican-hating channels and their Republican-bashing moderators. If individual candidates want to be interviewed and treated like an insensitive buffoon by Anderson Cooper, that's their choice.
In the nine election cycles we've monitored at the Media Research Center, the moderators have been almost entirely fixtures in the so-called mainstream media. In all of these cycles except 2020, Republicans have been subjected to a so-called town hall debate, where the "town" is a Potemkin village of carefully scripted and chosen questioners who routinely tilt to the Left, just like the moderators.
The RNC should reject any stage-managed "town hall" fakery from any of the liberal networks. If Republicans have to take on hecklers, it should be at their own campaign events and not at debates that are supposed to be fair and balanced.

I hope Chrissy only moderates student council debates. That’s his speed.
There is no such thing as a fair debate as long as one side is willing to cheat as the RAT party did in providing questions in advance to Hellary during her debate with Trump.
No more moderators at all.

Joe Rogan should moderate. He asks good questions and doesn’t seem to care what side of the political spectrum you fall on. He just seems to want to understand. He also has the ability to kick your ass if you get out of line.
I have to admit, your posting of that graphic made me laugh in both anger and derision.
Chris Wallace is a full on useful idiot of the Left at best, or a full on Leftist at worst.
Substantial subjects like “climate change”.
What a jackass.
They aren’t debates.
Two people verbally duking it out is a debate.
What Deep State puts on is Kabuki theater.
You talkin bout gap tooth stacy abramz i perzummmm?
That’s what I’ve always thought.
What is missing is real debate between candidates. The moderators are leftists who do planned attacks on the repubes only and soft pedal replys to RATS.
Any “debates” from 2020 out will be clown shows because they aren’t needed when the outcome of an election is determined before anyone votes.
And really, historically the media should be the enemy of government and keep government accountable. Would make them good moderators in a debate- but they are no longer that media. They are compromised utterly and have no real value to society.
There will be buffoons. Count on it.
If there are going to be debates have agreed upon rules which are strictly enforced - eg your mic gets cut off the instant your time runs out - and have a panel of moderators who get to ask questions with each party selecting half of them.
Every moderator I’ve seen in these debates has been an obvious Lefty.
You mentioned that Joe Rogan should moderate. I watch Rogan’s podcasts. Joe Rogan would not be interested in moderating this. I’ve heard him say he never voted for a Republican & he does not like Trump. Plus, he often smokes Pot with guests while interviewing them. Liberals have been trashing him for smoking Pot with Elon Musk while interviewing him, which is ironic since they want it legalized.
Rogan is fair. He was a Bernie supporter but he’s actually fair.
that would be awesome
Rogan should have Trump on. His ratings would be astronomical
Simple Solution that everyone can be happy about:
1) No moderators
2) A timekeeper and a large traffic signal light everyone can see, Green for 3 minutes, Yellow for 30 seconds to wrap up, and Red - that’s when your microphone is OFF to prevent unwarranted interruption.
3)Take the top ten issues and let the candidates ask the other a question related to that issue. Allow the 3.5 minute response, then the questioner gets a 1 minute rebuttal. The you go to the other candidate to pose a question on the same topic.
4) 10 topics at 4.5 minutes each or 9 minutes per topic.
The whole real debate is 100 minutes or just over 1 1/2 hours.
Agree, see #18

Don’t be fooled by this RNC chicanery. It will later claim that it got a “concession to fairness” and jump right back into the lopsided debate forum. Just watch.
