Democrats’ Risky Keystone Bet
wsj ^ | Kim Strassel

Posted on 04/15/2022 7:30:22 AM PDT by Brilliant

...It pits... unapologetic progressive firebrand against a centrist... for now—the uber-liberal is running away with it.

With a month to the... primary, Mr. Fetterman claims a significant fundraising advantage over Mr. Lamb and a substantial lead in the polls...

The Lamb formula is a savvy combination of support for key party priorities and independence on issues that resonate with centrist Pennsylvanians. He’s pro-choice, favors Build Back Better and a federal voting takeover, and has even called for getting rid of the filibuster. At the same time, he’s in favor of fracking... has voted for more border security, and... voted for a bill to make parts of the 2017 tax reform permanent.

Mr. Lamb’s problem is that he’s less well-known than Mr. Fetterman... The liberal is 6-foot-8, has a goatee and tattoos, and revels in gym shorts, Carhartt and blue-collar Keystone culture. He has a penchant for trolling Republicans as “simps” and trashing West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin’s attachment to the filibuster. While Mr. Fetterman grew up in Central Pennsylvania in affluence, he presents himself as the patron saint of the Rust Belt Working Joe.

This masks a Fetterman agenda that puts him squarely in the camp of Sen. Elizabeth Warren (whom he’s praised as a “luminary”) and Sen. Bernie Sanders (whom he endorsed for president in 2016). He supports Medicare for all, a $15 minimum wage, allowing transgender athletes to compete in women’s sports, gun control, climate “justice,” and a “de facto moratorium” on fracking. Perhaps a greater political problem in today’s environment, he’s spoken at defund-the-police rallies and made a priority of releasing felons from prison. Then there’s the 2013 incident in which, as mayor of Braddock, he pulled a gun on an unarmed black jogger...

As for the GOP primary, never underestimate the party’s ability to blow it...

The guy is a sociopath and should be put down.

Bernie Sanders would (almost) be considered a centrist compared to John Fetterman. That guy is truly and sincerely nuts. If Fetterman ever became governor, his first act would probably be to order the PA Guard to shoot all Republicans.

Democrats and their media lackeys are desperate to convince us there are some centrists and moderates in their vile party. Then Manchin and Sinema vote for that maniac for the Supreme Court.

I'm of the opinion we might as well get it on.

Yep. The savages are freely rampaging across the country, so why not engage. Hubby and I recently bought a brand new SIG p365 small but mighty 9mm. Hubby has conceal carry in our state, so the Sig goes with us everywhere now when we're out and about. It stays home with me for personal protection when he's at work.

We also have a cheaper full-sized 9mm, but I can't rack it. So the Sig takes care of that problem. I'm also thinking of getting a small shotgun that I can handle.

Hypotheticals definitely get the wheels turning, but the Ds are increasingly becoming detached from reality. It’s like they are living in some movie script or video game. Nothing surprises my lately.

Lamb is a joke, Fetterman is the Democrat candidate for PA.... Lamb is a two term congressman who frankly should have been voted out of office last time had the GOP actually taken the field....they didn’t. They had a decent candidate, but did not put any real effort behind him, and Lamb won against a complete joke of a candidate the first time around.

With that said, its pretty clear to me the author of this opinion piece has likely never set foot in Pennsylvania.

She classifies Fetterman as an untested firebrand, and Lamb as a proven track record of beating Republicans. I would challenge BOTH of these assertions.

Fetterman has far more bonafides as a politician than most, he was the long time Mayor of Braddock, and long forgotten and ignored and depressed city, who’s hey day from the mills was long long gone... Braddock is a place most people don’t want to even drive through, let alone live.. if you were to name some of the worst places in the Pittsburgh area in terms of crime, urban decay, and all that go with it, Braddock is always on the short list. He has personally put in more effort and work than 99% of politicians have ever done... While others walked away, he walked right in and put in the hard work.. He was not born there, he chose to go there, and then stayed, and for 14 years was its mayor.

Lamb on the other hand, tries to walk a fence in his district, pretending to be moderate at election time, but when push comes to shove, he’ll tow the party line. He’s not remotely what he pretends to be.

There is little doubt that when voters see the both of them, why Fetterman is running away with this race.

I will also say this about the PA Senate Race... Yes, there is a red wave coming, and its going to be huge.. however if I were to pick a race that I suspect may buck this trend, it would be this race.

Fetterman absolutely is the best candidate by far of either party, he absolutely dominates any room he is in, and not just physically, though he certainly does this too. Fettermen’s only real obstacle is that he’s running in a year when the Democrat brand is in the absolute toilet.

I consider this race a bell weather... If the GOP win this senate race this year, it means that the Democrat brand is so damaged that a ham sandwich would win as long as it had a R by its name. If they win this Senate seat, it will be a down right atrocious night for democrats... not a very bad night, but an ATROCIOUS one..

I don’t care who the actual GOP nominee is in this race, if any of them win, it’s just because the Dem brand is worthless. Yes, Fetterman is that much stronger of a candidate than any Republican running. The one weak spot for Fetterman beyond general D branding is ties to the Unpopular Wolf.. but even Wolf’s unpopularity is nowhere near where one would think it would be, but thats a weak spot for him, that’s about it.

If the GOP hold this seat, then house seat gains should be nibbling at triple digits if not more.

This article is behind a paywall. Why bother posting it?

The ONLY GOP candidate that Fetterman WILL certainly beat is the Islamist Oz. Pennsylvania is not Dearborn Michigan.

Any other GOP candidate (including the Chinese loving McCormick) will beat Frankenstein in a wave election.

Democrats lie, about everything, always. He says he is for pipelines and border security? BS. He will vote as he is commanded to vote.

THere is a audio clip of him baying in the senate after they voted for something he didn’t like. Truely a demented person. Like to see him debate Kathy Barnette. He is a complete thug and should turn off all the suburban soccer moms.

Thanks for sharing your idea about a small shotgun. I’ll do some research on a 20 gauge. I’m not a big woman, so I sure don’t want a shotgun that will knock me on my butt if something bad is going down.
