Someone sent me a private note on the same subject. My reply to him would be an appropriate response to your comment:

I agree, but I was being polite. His wife is a great person, but one with poor taste in men. I chose to not make an issue of it.

What really bugged me though, is he called me out for being an idiot, when I was absolutely right.
