I cancelled my cardiologist today.
I’m stable, and a profit center for the clinic - there are multiple tests they can run on me and charge medicare big bucks. But they have demanded everyone wear a mask since May of 2020.
Since then, I’ve almost forgotten the name of the doc(I had to look at the appt slip) since I can’t picture him in my mind. I have been dreading going in for weeks.
When I was 5, they removed my tonsils and it was trauma for this kid. I can still picture the operating room and the masks. Every time I see a person in a mask, I’m reminded.
So, when I have gone in masked, my readings are up 10 points. I have a hard time breathing and I can’t understand most of what is said because I can’t see their mouth and expressions.
My GP and his staff do not wear masks. I can get any prescriptions needed from him, and I see him regularly.
So, I called and explained. I spoke to a couple of staff, and all were equally tired of the masking, but they have to keep working. The problem is, the corporate side shows every intention of keeping masking forever. And why not? I get the impression they think you’ve got to see them, and you’re scared enough not to buck the new rules. There’s much less personal involvement between doctor/patient, and that’s all good for most specialists. Same money, less emotional stress for the doctor.
Call me dumb, but I have chosen to live free. I am the patient. I am not infectious. And I’m willing to assume you aren’t either, and I accept the consequences.
