Several landowners challenge approval of Nebraska solar farm

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Several landowners have gone to court to challenge the county board’s approval of a massive solar farm that is planned just east of Lincoln.

The county approved the company’s plan to put solar panels on agricultural land that previously could only be used for agricultural purposes or as green spaces. In some places, the solar panels could be placed 450 feet from homes of landowners who didn’t sign a lease to be part of the project.

Attorney Dennis Tegtmeier said the new zoning rules would allow solar panels as close as 50 feet from the edge of his client’s property, which would be surrounded on three sides by solar panels.

Climate Change is another “mass formation psychosis.” Children, teen and young adults are scared to death we are destroying our earth. It results in garbage like this giant solar “farm” which will destroy the property values of people forced to live next door to it. I pity the guy who will be surrounded by these panels.

These stinking solar farms and windmills are popping up all over Maine.....a state where it gets dark at 4:00 in the afternoon in winter.

And they are subsidizing out of state companies by raising our electric rates.

Sounds like they are punishing people that don’t cooperate. Actions like this might be a challenge for domestic sabotage.

Converting farmland to solar ought to be a crime. Especially in Nebraska where the efficiency of solar arrays will NEVER even APPROACH the claims of the developers due to weather.

Exactly the same S*it show out here in rural Ohio. I’ve tried to wake people up in my county to the dangers. Not one Safety Data Material Sheet has been requested by the county commission. These things could contain cadmium and other toxic chemicals releasing toxic fumes on a massive scale in the event of a fire. I’m not even mentioning EMF or ground water concerns. No concern for the citizens in the least. You let harm happen to my people here and see what happens.

They are everywhere in Illinois. Snow and icicles cover the panels. Not much energy producing going on here.

As a side note to this thread, please consider the following.

I understand that people in England, for example, complain about return on investment for solar panels.

Solar panels: Thousands of customers complain (9.9.19; BBC)

I presume that there is a latitude above which solar panels are not a good investment.

On the other hand, since solar panels are often mounted parallel with a pre-solar era roof (penny wise, dollar foolish?), would additional expense of inclining panels to the south in northern hemisphere for example, make a significant difference in power output?

Also, hurricanes and solar panels don't mix.

Next, emphasizing that I am not medically trained, here is another interesting comparison with “solar power” versus latitude.

During wintery months from October to February, if you live above latitude 37°N, the southern border of Kansas for example, your skin probably won't generate enough vitamin D3 no matter how much you expose yourself to sun.

Corrections, insights welcome.

For scale, there is one installation here that is 750 football fields. It isn’t hard to imagine what would happen in a rural county with a major fire.

An energy company is talking to landowners very, very near me regarding a proposed solar farm. Follow the money, all right. They are offering farmers $900 per acre each year in rent. Do the farmers follow the money?

You bet.

This stinks. The land was zoned for agricultural purposes or as green spaces. Ugly, costly solar panels made out of hazardous elements which will degrade in 10 years is not farming or recreational use. Someone in local government got greased.

“the efficiency of solar arrays will NEVER even APPROACH the claims.”

True. Solar energy is the least efficient. It takes 75 years for Solar to start making money.

I honestly think large solar farms raise the air temps around them. They were finding that out in Nevada as the temperatures around the solar farms were 10-15 degrees more than other areas around them.

Remember the possibility that this massive, nationwide land grab for government-subsidized solar is part of the Great Reset to reduce ownable land and force everyone into urban rentals.

I thought the same thing. Anyone who is has ever done heat transfer of Aluminum would think so and that sure is a hell of a lot of aluminum framing in 750 football fields, not to mention the reflectivity of the panels themselves. That’s the rub, who at the EPA has done any published studies on this.

My county has been starting to look like California too because of the vast areas of undergrowth and brush allowed to happen by Ohio natural resources. All the past farming leases are no longer in effect, imagine that. Another organization the “greenies” have taken over. A disaster in the making.
