And the election campaign really has little relevance here.
Since 2001, it has been the fundamental stated principle of Australia's border laws that we decide who comes here and on what terms. This is not new, and it's something American conservatives used to praise Australia for. Now, for some reason, they've turned their back on that core principle.
Djokovic has tried to enter Australia without complying with our border regulations. He lied on his entry application. Honestly, while I wish they could find some way to let him play, it is difficult to see on what grounds the Immigration Minister could have made a different decision.
COVID is just an added complicating feature.
No, you don't.
You're as gleeful as those execrable Lefty Twitter bluechecks when they get a "win" for their side, and so are a lot of your countrysubjects.
May the boot on your neck be light. But I doubt that it will be.
“And the election campaign really has little relevance here.”
In the immortal words of tennis great John McEnroe, “You can’t be serious!”.
If it was such an obvious decision, why wait until after the tournament draw is set, and after the close of business on Friday? And why give the reason as “on health and good order grounds, on the basis that it was in the public interest to do so”. It almost seems to me that Hawke is expecting Judge Kelly to overrule him, but for political reasons he did it anyway.
I can’t honestly claim that we have better politicians here in the USA, but this is the folly that is currently in the news.
Pray that Judge Kelly takes swift action to rescue the true interests of Australia from Hawke’s folly.
Lol.. Are you honestly saying without mass formation or covid that he would not be playing in any country he wanted to?
Your full-time job is protecting fascists in Australia isn’t it?
Also, most U.S. have no problems criticizing their own government, where you seem to believe that a citizen of a country has to support a government's actions no matter what. You believe criticizing any actions by the Australian government makes you a bad Australian. Most U.S. wouldn't feel the same, or would actually feel the opposite here.
Do you personally hide under your bed at the thought of ND entering your country? Is he a danger to the Australian national security? And, finally, is ND a healthy person at the moment or is he sick with Covid?
