The U.S. Army is facing difficulties finding enough recruits and hopes increased bonuses will lure them.
The Army for the first time is offering a maximum enlistment bonus of $50,000 to highly-skilled recruits who join for six years.
Maj. Gen. Kevin Vereen, head of Army’s Recruiting Command,said difficulties stem from schools shuttering during the pandemic and a competitive job market.
“We are still living the implications of 2020 and the onset of COVID, when the school systems shut down. We want to promote the value of serving your country. But we also know it’s all about compensation, too.”
The recruiting struggle comes as the military is poised to separate possibly tens of thousands of service members for declining to be vaccinated and defying the Biden administration’s vaccine mandate. The number of unvaccinated service members is estimated to be around 30,000.
The Army said Wednesday it has not yet involuntarily separated anyone over the vaccine mandate, but that it has relieved six active-duty leaders from their command and issued 2,994 general officer written reprimands to soldiers over the vaccine mandate. Those reprimands are often career-ending.
More than ten thousand across the services have requested an exemption from the vaccine based on religious reasons, but so fa The recruiting difficulties also come as public confidence in the military is shrinking. A recent survey by the Ronald Reagan Institute showed a drop of 11% of Americans with high confidence in the military — just since February, as previously reported by Breitbart News. That drop was attributed to “political leadership.”

To join up now I assume you have to pass a FBI wokeness background check. A kid wanting to join for the reasons I did would be quickly rejected should he have a history of patriotic social posting. Have you noticed the new recruitment commercials? Nothing about weapons and fighting wars. Now the target group seems to barely physically qualified women of color who want to help out during floods and scamdemics.
Yes, the job is to kill people and break things, but selling the military is easy to a large number of Americans.
Get rid of the wokeness
Emphasize job training in specialized field, how many jobs in the military have a direct relationship to jobs in the private sector, hundreds, thousand, 10s of thousands, etc...
Emphasize you get paid while training for a job.
You get the GI bill for college.
You get healthcare while in military.
Stay in for 20 years and retire with a pension and benefits.
You get to shoot guns and all other types of cool things not available to civilians and get paid to do it.
but when you shove wokeness down the throat of everyone, people won’t join and those who are in will get out.

The Army's objective is to kill people and break things. Question of winning wars depends often on how well it prosecutes those objectives, and answer is probably "not so much" when objective shifts to wokeness.
I have persuaded 2 young family members NOT to ever join the US Military! Not worth it considering the Leadership today. Got them into getting a good trade.
I do not recommend any patriot join the military. Yes, I know that means it will be mostly criminal leftists joininf if patriots do not.

Walmart will pay for your college now if you work for them. The Army owns you. Walmart you can quit anytime you like. Plus some senile old President can’t send you to die for some stupid political cause unrelated to national security.
I recommended that all my children not join due to military leadership and racial attacks occurring in the service.
