“Teachers Unions” - that’s all that really needs to be said. I use to be a classroom teacher - and a member of “The Union”.... I finally quit the union when I came to the realization that the union was actively working in opposition to pretty much every value I possess.... including the well-being of students.

Teachers of today are no longer like the teachers that people admired and respected a long while back.
Nowadays, it’s all about themselves and their unions and their politics.
Meanwhile, their salaries are paid by the people through taxation, which means that parents and taxpayers are their bosses. So, the parents have the right to demand that those teachers go back to work or get laid off; or the parents should be able to ask for their money back, perhaps in the form of vouchers so that their kids can be sent to a school of the parents’ choice and not a public school controlled by unions and politicians.
They are following their master’s commands.
We the people should stop paying our school taxes due to the “virus”....
My guess is they’ll go back to teaching real fast.
How many teaches take off to FL and teach remotely from their for a week or two?
Sending kids to the public school bureaucracy for “education” is increasingly no different than sending them to the DMV for education.

Yep. Open the schools, tell the teachers to show up. Fire anyone who doesn’t. I’m sure some retired business people could easily fill in for thins like English, science, math, etc. and teach some real life skills and experience.

Where I live (WA state), the teacher shortage is so great that you don't even need a Scout merit badge to teach.
