Schools across the nation eliminated F years ago. Now, it’s D. Why not give every 3 year old a HS certificate and be done with the games.
I still can’t get over TX making submitting a FAFSA application a graduation requirement whether the student is headed for college or not.

OMG if only I had been in high school today I would have been a straight A student the standards have become so low!! How in the hell do they expect these kids to make in in the REAL WORLD, unless of course they find a nice cushy do nothing government job!!!

Kind of like becoming a US citizen by legal means versus the Xiden method.
When you say pupils "deserve" grades they don't earn, you are are absolutley "calling for an across-the-board relaxation of all academic standards!"
If you just want to move them along, give them a "Pass" - don't corrupt the grading process.

By "deserving," I did NOT mean that pupils DESERVE grades they didn't earn.
I think that I made it repeatedly and abundantly clear that I was instead referring to, e.g., special "catch-up" classes for "borderline" cases. And to allowing the school authorities a bit of latitude with respect to "hard-luck" cases (e.g., when it could be credibly demonstrated that a specific child had been particularly impacted by draconian Covid measures which interrupted learning).

Just graduate them and get it over with.
Give them the Oz Scarecrow Diploma and call it a day.
heck, why not just give ‘em all ‘A’s all the time so they can all take out “college” student loans that they’ll never pay back and never graduate anyway ... no SAT/ACT requirements and everyone gets an “A”, soon the “colleges” will be forced to automatically graduate everyone who applies because the subsequent epidemic of failure will be “racist” ... of course, the CA “educational” system will be turning out perfectly uneducated peasants who will be lifelong voters for the National Socialist Democrat Party because, you know, “free stuff” ...
