A cargo truck jammed with people who appeared to be Central American migrants rolled over and crashed into a pedestrian bridge over on a highway in southern Mexico on Thursday, killing at least 49 people and injuring nearly five dozen others, authorities reported.
Luis Manuel Moreno, the head of the Chiapas state civil defense office, said a preliminary estimate listed 49 dead and 58 injured. He said about 21 of the injured had serious wounds and were taken to local hospitals.

Whoops…. Just saw the other thread. Mods feel free to delete.
And if they had stayed in their own countries, 49 people would be alive right now. I don’t feel sorry for them.
They blamed this on Trump yet?
Did they bury any survivors?
Queue the Jerry Seinfeld, That’s a Shame post.
The Coyotes have most likely already collected their transportation fees. Families of those killed may want that money back, since their relative did not reach their border goals as per agreement. They won’t be getting any refunds.
As long as tbey can still vote Dem.
They don’t want to come here legally.
That story is heartbreaking. Too horrific to imagine. Those poor people, especially the children.
I can understand why a wreck there. That road is curvy and steep in some places. I prayed the whole time I was in a speeding Mexican bus on that road many years ago. (No, not a migrant. On my way to a conference at a cool place near the border with Guatamala.)
No, they should not have been coming here illegally, and no sympathy for that, but much sympathy for the horrors the survivors endured and the grieving families.
When you count up how much the smugglers got for cramming all those people in a truck for a 500 mile ride, gosh, over $300,000. Lucrative business. Filthy dirty, but lucrative.
There is no bright side to such a tragedy, but at least the stinkin’ people smugglers lost a truck. Ha. One less to transport illegal immigrants.
They began breaking the law the minute they stepped out of their homes to travel here. So no I don’t have any sympathy as they assumed the risk to themselves and their children. It’s not like they don’t know the potential danger. They chose the odds.
“That story is heartbreaking. Too horrific to imagine. Those poor people, especially the children.”
Either we get some BACKBONE, or the West will no longer be on the map. And when that happens, it won’t be the children of Central American lawbreakers killed, it will be YOUR CHILDREN and it will be MY CHILDREN.
So sorry, if it means flipping some buses to slow the invasion, that is JUST FINE with me.
Agreed.
“Migrations” have consequences.
One of many.
One can feel sympathy with the horror of that accident without condoning the purpose of their trip. Did you read the article? How the truck flipped over and the survivors were trapped under the bodies of the dead?
I hate our open borders policy. It is detrimental to our country and its citizens, unfair to the people who jump through all the hoops and wait in line to immigrate legally, cruel in its way to those who endeavor to come here illegally (including ghastly events like this one) and creates ugly crime and corruption on both sides of the border (human trafficking, drug smuggling, criminals escaping justice, and all the nastiness that goes along with it).
In addition, the wink-and-nod attitude toward illegal immigration erodes the Rule of Law, and without Rule of Law, a democracy cannot function properly. Once you start selectively enforcing certain laws, the law itself
is weakened, and this attitude tends to spread to other laws, more laws. Aren’t we already seeing this? Furthermore, if we don’t respect our own laws governing immigration, how can we expect others to respect it? Biden’s handlers practically invited this.
We The People have never had a say in this, other than expressing our desire to end the lawlessness when we elected Trump (I noticed his popularity spiked sharply upward in the polls when he campaigned on this, especially when he appeared to be particularly opposed to Muslims coming here.)
Why, why, why have our overlords continuously declined to enforce our immigration laws for decades? Yes, there’s that thing about increasing the pool of those who vote Democrat, but Republicans have been no different (with the exception of Trump). Look at our total fertility rate (TFR) which now stands at 1.64 (well below the replacement rate of 2.1), and “the graying of America”. How to keep up the workforce and economy? How to keep Social Security solvent?
In today’s world, people are living longer and, therefore, drawing benefits longer. And those benefits are scheduled to rise dramatically over the next few decades. And instead of sixteen workers paying in for every beneficiary, right now it’s only about three workers. And over the next few decades that number will fall to just two workers per beneficiary. With each passing year, fewer workers are paying ever-higher benefits to an ever-larger number of retirees.
This article describes policy implications and some potential policy solutions to this demographic challenge. It first provides context for the policy discussion by examining fertility, mortality, work, and retirement patterns in the United States and then discusses different policy options.

Note: It’s even worse than this article states, as they got their projections wrong, e.g. actual 2020 TFR is 1.64, not their projected 2.01.
Europe’s TFR is even lower, and they are importing mostly Muslims.
Meanwhile, as the young people grumble about how much they resent having to support all those retiring Boomers, they simultaneously worry about overpopulation and fictitious climate change and vow to have no children (or very few children) to “help heal the planet”.
Something no one talks about: The average IQ in Guatemala is 79, in Honduras, it’s 81. What sort of jobs are these people supposed to do? Sure, they can mow lawns and pick beans and stock shelves, work in the meat processing plants and mine coal, but aren’t we told there are not enough jobs for the uneducated? Didn’t Biden tell coal miners to learn to code? We do have labor shortages in some areas, but how much is artificially created by welfare (and, lately, unemployment) benefits?
If we really do need to import more people, why not do it through proper legal channels? Or figure out other ways to solve this problem so we don’t need to import that many? There are other ways (and I don’t mean doing away with the old folks by that!).
The taxes they all cost us , the importance they're given , the free medical care they're given ,the rights that apparently more and more the American people are losing and are instead being given to these parasites because Democrats want a new dependent class of voters. That's who my sympathy is with. I didn't ask these people to come here. For God's sake they need stay home and to fix their own countries.

Whenever an illegal alien kills someone in a drunk driving accident or something similar, here’s what I recommend:
What can we do about it? Here’s my standard post.
RICO —Citizen Recourse
Private persons and entities may initiate civil suits to obtain injunctions and treble damages against enterprises that conspire to or actually violate federal alien smuggling, harboring, or document fraud statutes, under the Racketeer-Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO). The pattern of racketeering activity is defined as commission of two or more of the listed crimes. A RICO enterprise can be any individual legal entity, or a group of individuals who are not a legal entity but are associated in fact, and can include nonprofit associations.
Here’s what I’ve been pushing: it’s time to file Racketeering, Influencing, and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) lawsuits.
RICO lawyers could turn it around in a few years and MAKE MONEY at the same time. I’m surprised they haven’t done it already.
In the absence of enforcement, we can get the word out in the meantime that there is money to be made in filing RICO lawsuits against employers who hire illegal aliens like this jerk.
Employers would have no trouble shutting down the border if they could get sued by someone under the RICO statutes for hiring these people in the first place. The next time an illegal alien kills someone in a drunk driving accident or somesuch thing, I’m going to point out that the victim’s family might be able to seek compensation from the employer under these statutes in the hopes that it would catch on. If this did catch on, would see such a swift backlash against illegal immigration that no employer would go near these people and they’ll all simply want to go back home.
Obviously the only way to get people into the US in mass is just as we see happening at the border. Any other way is too time consuming, expensive and labor extensive.
