Republicans alarmed after Biden official floats ban on crude oil exports
Fox Business ^ | December 5th, 2021 | By Houston Keene

Reps. Roger Williams and August Pfluger of Texas led a letter with 61 of their House GOP colleagues to Secretaries Jennifer Granholm and Gina Raimondo.

"President Biden’s war on American energy continues with his Administration’s latest discussions to reinstate the export ban on crude oil, which was repealed in 2015 on a bipartisan vote," Williams said in his official statement.

"From canceling the Keystone XL pipeline to halting new oil and gas leases on federal lands, no Administration has ever gone to such drastic lengths to destroy good paying jobs and make the United States more reliant on foreign energy," he continued. "With every step the Biden Administration further caves to the far left of his party, stopping at nothing that will impede his goal to force a Socialist Green New Deal on the American people."

Pfluger said in his statement that banning "crude oil exports from the U.S. would be a catastrophic mistake that will harm the livelihoods of blue collar workers in the Permian Basin and result in higher prices for international crude" and warned that doing so would give "OPEC and Russia more profits."

These GOP reps sound the alarm and scream that all sorts of awful things will happen.

Yet none has, or can explain why a return to the export moratorium harms the nation. Are not reps supposed to put the nation first?

It reminds me of the squealing over "free trade".

What am I missing?

Republicans alarmed

I understand being alarmed is one notch above concerned, but lower than troubled.

That would be an idea - if American refineries were using the types of crude being exported, AND they had pipelines to connect themselves to it, but they aren’t, and they don’t.

more political stupidity.

The oil we export is oil we cannot use due to sulphur content and EPA regulations. It another moron example of the Demcorat Marxist party staging a photo op rather then undoing their harmful policies that caused the problem

Republicans often confuse words with actions.

The GOPe reps are alarmed, appalled, mad as hell, and ready to write a strong letter. Well, maybe not too strong, don’ want to anger the RATs.

Great move commies….this will double the price or gasoline…our refineries can’t refine all quantities of crude produced in the US. The EPA hasn’t allowed a new refinery to be built in 30 years. We export crude that doesn’t fit current refinery design…..so bring it on bankrupt American oil producers….

Sure, but we are also exporting millions of barrels of raw crude every year. How does that make sense?

The export ban was in place a mere 6 years ago.

How did the oil companies survive back then?

Not only should crude oil exports be banned there should be a $10.00/bbl tariff on crude imports.

Do it. Americans in general need to be punished for their stupidity and complacency.

So let me see if I have this right. Biden is contemplating a ban on exporting oil commercially, meanwhile he’s siphoning oil from our strategic reserve to give to China. Does that about cover it?

Exporting crude never made sense.

Actually the lifting of the ban on US oil exports is a relatively “new” change in the oil industry.

At least to my mind the price of oil in the US is not high because all our oil is being exported. Rather there is insufficient global supply,

Iz’d vote for the US increasing the supply and becoming a net exporter as was true only a few years ago. Drill baby drill
