Current and former professional athletes slammed Friday's not guilty verdict in the Kyle Rittenhouse trial as evidence of a racist America and criminal justice system.
The charges against Rittenhouse were first-degree reckless homicide, first-degree recklessly endangering safety, first-degree intentional homicide and attempted first-degree intentional homicide. The trial, which lasted several weeks and finished with closing arguments on Monday, resulted in the jury on Friday finding Rittenhouse not guilty on all counts after three days of deliberations.
Colin Kaepernick, a former San Francisco 49ers quarterback, said the result of the trial shows the need for "our current system" to be abolished while referring to Rittenhouse as a "white supremacist."
"We just witnessed a system built on white supremacy validate the terroristic acts of a white supremacist," Kaepernick tweeted Friday following the verdict. "This only further validates the need to abolish our current system. White supremacy cannot be reformed."
Meanwhile, NFL free agent quarterback Robert Griffin III appeared to compare Rittenhouse's self-defense case to that of a man convicted of first-degree murder for the shooting death of Oklahoma businessman Paul Howell during a carjacking in 1999.
"Kyle Rittennhouse [sic] can kill without a sliver of doubt & walk free but Julius Jones is in jail for life without the chance for parole after being on death row for 20 years with all types of doubt in his case," Griffin said Friday in a tweet. "What is Justice? God help us."

Ok, let’s replace the current system with one where if you are charged, then you are automatically and immediately taken out, like Judge Dread. Be lack, white, no difference and treated 100 percent the same. NO Parole. No forgiveness.

This isn’t a case about race. This is a case about Democratic Party privilege. Those individuals believe they have a privilege to burn, loot, and murder, and people don’t have the right to defend themselves. Jury said otherwise.
The last people that I want to be lectured by are ignorant athletes.
Many people in the sports world are stupid and ignorant.
Another person who needs to be made to defend these defamatory comments under oath in court.
And none watched one minute of the actual trial.
