My son Christian Allen and I almost died during childbirth. From the start, he was always stubborn and tenacious. He also was the one who would be there the second he was needed.
He was an amazing football player at East Mecklenburg High School and had many accomplishments. He had a niece who he absolutely adored.
Chris didn’t get to graduate high school or go to college. I will never see his children, his education or his accomplishments. All of that was robbed from us. Gone. In one night.
Carlos Olguin, the man who shot my son to death in 2017 at a high school party, was sentenced Monday to seven to nine years in prison. He had seven previous gun charges. Carlos, now 27, was originally charged with first-degree murder. He was allowed to plead guilty to voluntary manslaughter.

My daughter was shot in Charlotte also. She lived after coding 4 times and losing her spleen. Her immune system lost a key player for life. Apparently she was living w a drug dealer. We just left that area for good.
I don’t miss the place at all.
What little I ever liked or knew of Charlotte is long gone.
Prosecutors LOVE plea deals because it is a conviction, costs little for court prep, little worry about criminal's ethnicity / protected status ... . Carlos Olguin looks to 'skated' on the 'seven previous gun charges' if they were not convictions so that indicates he (probably) had already gotten tender treatment. My heart goes out to this mother and the victim's family & friends, they are in my prayers!

Why do we always assign blame to something else when drugs are involved?
THAT part of the story never came out.. too many people think smoking pot, dealing pot and growing pot are “No. biggie”. But they are all still criminal acts. Do criminal things win vriminal prizes. Like getting shot, stabbed, beat up or arrested. Hang around circus people expect circus clowns as friends.

I visited Monticello once, and swung by the University of Virginia campus, which was certainly pleasant enough (nice lawn).

That prosecutor, and and judge, will need answer for every crime and murder that POS commits the rest of his days.. Lets pray those days are are short.. :(
