Biden's Energy Policies Threaten to Wreck Our Economy

Washington -- Remember the days when --pre-presidency! -- Joe Biden used to be given to uttering gaffes? He would utter a lot of them. I remember him in debate with the pulchritudinous Sarah Palin. In fact, he made so many gaffes we began calling him the gaffable Joe Biden. We may look back on those days and call them the "Good Old Days." Now he garbles whole press conferences. As the Wall Street Journal said of his interview with Anderson Cooper last week, "Mr. Biden often doesn't seem to know what he's talking about." The president was talking about nothing in particular when he moved on to the high price of oil in the here and now. He blamed the high price of oil on OPEC and not the Democrats' war against fossil fuels produced in America. Then he said that "ultimately ... investing in renewable energy" is the answer. Yet that might take 20 years or more. Who knows?

I thought about Joe's claim that the answer to our energy problem is "renewable energy" as I drove north along I-95 headed to a meeting in New Jersey. As I crossed Delaware -- Joe's home state -- and into New Jersey, I noticed an enormous number of semitrucks and tankers and pickup trucks along the way. For that matter, I noticed hundreds of SUVs here on I-95 and thousands of other gas guzzlers. There must be millions of internal combustion engines on the roads of America. How are we going to dispose of them in a decade or two, according to Joe's plan? Will we all buy Teslas? Can Americans afford our sudden obsession with ending our reliance on fossil fuels? I am not so sure.

I do not doubt that our reliance on fossil fuels in, at least, a minor way contributes to global warming. Perhaps in a major way our reliance on fossil fuels contributes to global warming, though there is no evidence of it. My trouble is that we do not have the solution to the problems created by fossil fuels. The president's plan to impose renewable energy on the nation is not feasible. It is another left-wing, pie-in-the-sky solution to a problem that is much greater than the left-winger will admit to. It is like gun control. Just gather up the nation's guns. That means gathering up over 300 million guns from private citizens. Will no one complain. And how about knives? Or possibly forks?

The problem -- and it is a problem that is only beginning to be addressed -- is that we do not have any way to eliminate fossil fuels that will not wreck the economy. This economy depends on growth. Any slowdown means trouble. Any major slowdown means major trouble. All the reports that I am aware of predict a major slowdown for our economy if we continue on the path we are going. Imagine Joe's plan of "ultimately ... investing in renewable energy." That would mean shutting down roughly 8% of our economy. It would not work, and frankly I cannot imagine that Joe thinks it will work. His only hope is that he will be dead by the time his plan is completed.

There is a way to treat the problem of fossil fuels. The free market might just be able to develop alternatives to fossil fuels, which it has yet to do. Yet it is not out of the question. The free market did develop a vaccine to treat COVID-19 recently in record time, and it did so despite the highly regulated pharmaceutical industry. Of course, the man who pushed for the development process was Donald Trump. He pushed for speeding up the development of the vaccine. He pushed for speeding up the testing of the vaccine's safety. And he pushed for speeding up the distribution of the final product. Moreover, what was learned through this speeded up process may speed up the process of development and distribution of other vaccines in the future. Donald may be on the path to a Nobel Prize!

Would it not be an irony that Trump's work with the COVID-19 vaccine helps with solving the problems associated with fossil fuels? He would find a way to get research and development rolling. While Biden's work with fossil fuel may bankrupt the economy, Trump's work with vaccines many win him the Nobel Prize.

AMEN! Besides, the Earth creates an enormous amount of natural gas (NG is NOT a “fossil fuel” in the definition of the word, ie it is not created (in my view) from decaying organic matter, and we know now that we have a gigantic supply, plus it burns clean. So what is the “Green Nazi” view of it? Why, just Alinsky it! That way the Elite Snobs can control, and freeze us out if they want to. Why? Simple, they want us DEAD.

We are not headed for a recession, we are going to scoot right on past that. This is a full-blown, global DEPRESSION, on a scale that dwarfs the “Great Depression” of 1930-1940, and it will likely last more than a decade this time.

Only because the “Brain Trust” will try every means but the right one to “fix” it.

Cheap, reliable energy is one of the main building block to economic recovery. But some folks just cannot stand prosperity, so they got to go out and invent adversity.

No problem disposing of them - we have landfills enough.

Oh, excuse me: Did you mean "How are we going to replace them?"

That is, of course, another matter entirely.

Can the electrical grid support charging all of those coal cars?

Maybe, just maybe, they’re planning ahead for a mass reduction in population? Is a sarcastic tag required?

No. We have neither sufficient generation nor transmission and distribution infrastructure for that. Elon Musk, Mr. Tesla, even said so recently.

Reduction of the human population to perhaps 5% of the current level, or less, may be the objective, but then, moving goal posts is not unknown, and it will come down to just two people, each trying to throw the other into the volcano.

There can be only one. Talk about a Pyrrhic victory.

Wrecking the economy is Clueless Joe’s objective. Why do Americans tolerate a doddering, senile old pervert to be the front man for obviously evil manipulators to destroy our country? They wanted to remove Trump from office for the way he picked up a glass of water. What will it take with Clueless Joe?

More like 80% of the economy.

Personally I don't think internal combustion engines are going to be replaced because billions of people that would normally have been driving are going to be disposed of.

This Great Reset/6uild 6ack 6etter is the globalist end game. They really do mean it when they say there are too many people, and that you will have nothing and like it. The ones who don't like it will be killed.

Every Freeper is already marked for death. Better have plans to fight to prevent that.

Normalcy Bias will get you killed even faster.

Joe’s objective? No, no, no... he’s just the patsy. The level of catastrophe we’re witnessing is being well coordinated and strategically implemented at so many levels, well beyond his capabilities.

There are whispers in the ears of many, from the ultimate deceiver. This is a spiritual battle, not that of the flesh.

I started a list of items that are made with fossil fuels.

I am already on page 12.

Then-—there are the items that CAN NOT be made without fossil fuels:

Glass-—cannot melt silica at anything but HIGH temps...

Steel-—same

Jewelry-—gold/silver==same.

High temps cannot be created by wind/solar energy to produce glass or steel...

START your own list-—Surprise yourself.

Imagine, everyone goes home from work between 5 and 6 every day. They all plug in their E.V.'s to charge for the next days run. Then, to make matters worse they crank up their AC to cool down their houses.

It would collapse the entire grid.

Energy from the Sun. Science-fiction authors have already described where that thinking ultimately leads the people of Earth. It's called a "Dyson Sphere". In order to capture ALL of the Sun's output, that streams in multiple directions, the solar collectors will need to completely surround our star. If there are other civilizations out there paying attention to the sky, the speck of light we call Sol will slowly dim, and then vanish, as all the light is captured.

Named for Freeman Dyson in his 1960 paper "Search for Artificial Stellar Sources of Infrared Radiation".
