Democrats Are Turning Their Big Spending Bill Into Absolute Trash
Slate via MSN ^ | Oct 22, 2021 | Jordan Weissmann

As the party began trying to piece together its big social-spending and climate package, a split emerged between lawmakers who wanted to pass fewer programs (but do them well) and those who wanted to pass more programs (even if it means doing them poorly). A big part of this argument boiled down to how long policies should be funded for. The less-is-more crowd, dominated by party moderates, wanted to set policies in place permanently. The more-for-less brigade, dominated by progressives, wanted to fund programs temporarily in order to make their budget math work, essentially rolling the dice on the idea that they’d be renewed before they sunset.

At the moment, the side intent on doing lots of things poorly in order order to check off items on their to-do list appears to be winning the argument, hands down. And as a result, the bill quickly seems to be degenerating into a pricey heap of policy trash, much of which will probably blow away within a few years.

Nice to see Democrats being criticized by the left. And actually, this analysis is pretty good despite the snarky bits about Republicans.

In the long term, the wheat shall be separated from the chaff.
I’m guess ‘chaff’ is the hull of the wheat germ.
No, nobody has stopped me in the street to ask that question.

If you are trying to get a job for which you have zero qualification, it is easier to get elected than to get hired. We are seeing that in spades in the 21st century Democrat party.

More programs means more places to steal from.

They are counting the on the Republicans being to weak to repeal or even fail to renew the programs when they expire. And they have good evidence of that from their utter failure to repeal Obummercare when they had the chance.

If Biden were to get Tuna Tuesday passed into law where everyone gets a free can of tuna every Tuesday for a year, many would be marching in the street demanding it be renewed and the MSM would give stats on how many people the Republicans would kill if they don't extend it.

America can’t even pay interest on existing debt and mandated social programs from tax revenues.

And they want to spend another $3 trillion or more.

Bring on insolvency!

I’ll keep saying it until people start to get it. It’s not about the money! The money is the shiny object. It’s about the communism buried in the fine print. They asked for the moon moneywise so the could negotiate down to an “acceptable” level, all the while keeping the distraction focused on the money. Time to wake up and smell the coffee.

Exactly. You nailed it.

The money is the small part of it.
