Last month, New Jersey became the first state to take in more than $1 billion in sports betting in a single month, The Associated Press reported.
Nine casinos and three racetracks in Atlantic City took in $1.01 billion worth of wagers on sports as football returned in September, according to figures from the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement released on Monday.
The previous national record for a single state was $966 million wagered on sports betting in December 2020, according to the AP.

There is not a day goes by that I don’t see or hear a sports betting ad; TV and radio. I have been wondering if more suckers, I mean gamblers, are entering the fray or if it’s new blood getting hooked.
Just because you bet in New Jersey doesn’t mean you bet on NJ teams to win. fugettaboudit.
When Sports Betting went to the SCOTUS, the tally was 6-3 with dissenting justices being Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Stephen Breyer and Sonia Sotomayor.
