The federal government pledges $100 million to address health care worker shortages

As health care workers face increased pandemic burnout, some states — particularly in underserved areas — have had challenges retaining existing staff and recruiting new clinicians.

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is now committing $100 million through the American Rescue Plan to help solve the problem.

"Our health care workers have worked tirelessly to save lives throughout this pandemic and now it's our turn to invest in them," Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra said in a statement.

"This investment is critical to ensuring state public health officials can continue supporting specific needs across their communities," he said.

The funds, which are now open for applications until April 8, 2022, are eligible "for state-run programs that support, recruit, and retain primary care clinicians who live and work in underserved communities," HHS says. The department hopes that being able to retain health care workers in underserved areas will help improve health equity.

Translation:

Large numbers of Black and hispanic doctors and nurses and other health care staff refuse to take the jab.

So, we are going to hire and recruit new ones to take their place.

They will receive super-fast training.

What could possibly go wrong?

Talk about tokenism. $100 million divided by a (low) salary of $50K per worker comes out to 2,000 healthcare workers.

Divided by 50 states, that averages out to 40 healthcare workers per state. For one year.

Yeah, that'll fix the healthcare worker shortage.

Let's Go, Brandon!

So, taxpayers in Red states are going to subsidize health care companies in Blue state who laid off workers due to illegal diktats from their Pfascist governors.

The anti-Constitutional income tax needs to be removed yesterday.

Pure insanity and we are fools for tolerating it.

Typical communist tactic. Create a major problem and then create a huge bureaucracy costing million and employing thousands of fellow travelers to “cure” the problem.

When all that is really needed is for government to go away.

See my tag line.

Who would have ever thought you could just throw money at the situation and health care is fixed.

Cut in the middle man, taxes and so on, and that 2,000 workers is closer to 200.

But just between you and me, they don't want solutions, unless they see the problem as a pork shortage.

...challenges retaining existing staff

Forced termination of medical staff indeed leads to “challenges”. Who knew.

Some of that has happened in red states, including Arizona (more like, purple) without state wide mandates. Banner Health and others have taken it upon themselves to issue authoritarian mandates.
