Texas Republican gubernatorial candidate Allen West on Monday revealed that he was released from the hospital after battling pneumonia related to a COVID-19 infection.
West, who is not vaccinated, was admitted to a hospital in Texas on Saturday. At the time he tweeted that he had concerning oxygen saturation levels.
On Monday, West posted a video to his social media accounts explaining that he had returned home and thanking supporters for their well wishes.
"I'm doing very well. I'm now back at the house. And I want to send out big shoutouts to the staff here in the COVID unit of the Medical City Green Oaks Texas," he said.
West said he received monoclonal antibody infusion therapy and treatment with a budesonide nebulizer, which is typically used by asthma patients.
He also took aim at COVID-19 vaccine mandates, saying that other treatments are possible.
"This should not be about forcing people to take a certain shot," he said.
"One of the things that I've learned, there are so many other protocols out there that we should be recommending to people," he added.

His anti-vaccine stunt cost the taxpayers tens of thousands, enriched big pharma and likely left him with long term breathing problems. Glad he is all in favor of these “alternate treatments”.

That doesn’t even make sense. First, he likely has health insurance so it didn’t cost the tax payers “tens of thousands”. Monoclonals are recommended by all the FRoctors here, so I don’t even know what that is about.
You have no idea if he will have “long-term” breathing problems. When he went in he said it was mild pneumonia.
You also do not know how much worse he would have been had he not included the other treatment protocols. The outcome is what matters and many doctors across the US have used these protocols and not lost a single patient to Covid.
How exactly did he “enrich big pharma”? That’s what the vaccines do.

My doctor is using monoclonal infusion and an oral steroid for early treatment.
US Government reimburses insurance and hospitals for COVID treatments.
He was in the hospital for a week because his lungs were in bad shape. If he could have left earlier, he would have. That means lung damage and scar tissue. I guarantee he won’t be running a marathon any time soon.
West claimed to have taken IVM and other non-FDA approved covid treatments. The only preventative recommended by the FDA and 95% of doctors he chose not to take. There is no 100% effective treatment for covid. Every doctor who treats enough patients loses some to covid. Check your facts.
He enriched big pharama for using monoclonal antibodies, reimbursed by the federal governement at The cost of GSK’s and Vir’s monoclonal antibody costs about $2,100 per infusion. Compare with the vaccine that is $20. Very few 60 year old men in decent shape like who have taken the vaccine end up in the hospital.
