China says it carried out beach landing drills in province opposite Taiwan

China's military said on Monday it had carried out beach landing and assault drills in the province directly across the sea from Taiwan, though it did not link the exercises to current tensions with Taipei.

Democratically ruled Taiwan, claimed by China as its own territory, has complained of stepped-up military and political pressure from Beijing to force it to accept Chinese rule, including massed air force incursions into Taiwan's air defence identification zone. read more The official People's Liberation Army Daily newspaper, in a brief report on its Weibo microblogging account, said the drills had been carried out "in recent days" in the southern part of Fujian province.

The action had involved "shock" troops, sappers and boat specialists, the Chinese military newspaper added. The troops were "divided into multiple waves to grab the beach and perform combat tasks at different stages", it added, without providing further details.

It showed a video of soldiers in small boats storming a beach, throwing smoke grenades, breaking through barbed wire defenses and digging trenches in the sand.

The drills appeared to involve a small number of troops.

The weather was clear and the seas were calm - suggesting the drill did not happen on Monday as southern Fujian is currently being affected by a tropical storm passing between Taiwan and the Philippines.

Fujian would be a key launching site for any Chinese invasion of Taiwan due to its geographical proximity.

China routinely carries out military exercises up and down its coast as well as in the disputed South China Sea.

Taiwan has denounced what it calls China's coercive tactics against it and says it will defend itself if attacked.

. . . and yet it was reported that American troops have quietly been stationed in Taiwan. Will they be permitted to fight? Are they only “advisers”? Will they simply flee when China makes its move?

More importantly, have they been vaccinated against Covid?

An attack by China will be the end of the chicoms. They are delusional beyond belief if they think they can withstand the allies in the pacific basin. Japan, Taiwan, all the neighbors sick to no end of the chicoms would be unified in a heartbeat and the chicoms would wake up the next morning with zero infrastructure asking “wha hoppen to that 7 gorges dam?”

And the ghosts of 10,000 dead Chinese soldiers from the massacre at Kinmen Island were there crying out for reinforcements or rescue.

The only response was Mao laughing with his Swim Girls.

A beach landing is one thing but to get there you got about 100 miles of open sea. Thats a 8-10 hour boat ride and lots of bad things can happen out there.

RE: Fujian would be a key launching site for any Chinese invasion of Taiwan due to its geographical proximity.

Fujian was also one of the launching sites of the Mongols under the reign of Kublai Khan when they ruled China in the 13th century. As much as 40,000 Korean, Mongol, and Chinese troops sailed from Korea to Japan in mid-1281. The Chinese troops reached as many as 100,000. They sailed from Quanzhou in Fujian Province later to meet up with the Northern troops at Iki island in Nagasaki

They TWICE tried to invade Japan during the Yuan Dynasty. Both times, their navy was destroyed by humongous typhoons. The invasions were never attempted after that. The Japanese called this the Divine Wind ( AKA Kami Kaze ).

I pray that this force of nature happens again when the Communists try to do the same thing to Taiwan.

May be another double-minded JFK-type Vietnam in the making... until China puts her bloody giant foot down and ends it. If that happens then we will have officially lost our first war and China will be emboldened to expand rapidly.

It’s possible Taiwan would be their guinea pig test of Leftist and Biden-run America. They will easily win against the Left and Biden.

I would make it clear to Cuba and China that if China invades Taiwan we will take over Cuba - in addition to fighting to save Taiwan.

Other than logistic support I don’t think Taiwan wants or needs military support from the US.

Taiwan has had 70 years to prepare the battlefield. 70 years to build friendly relations with surrounding nations. China is not liked by anyone. They are bullies on the world stage. They lie, they steal and they cheat.

China’s economic bubble is busting. Their GNP was the result of Ponzi scene on the world stage. Their infrastructure was build by corrupt party members who bid high and built cheap.

China’s current Chairman of the CCP (the true ruler of China) is arrogant towards non-Chinese and ignorant of economics.

What he is is man with a lot of power but little character.

The threat of invading Taiwan is a McGuffin to be used to distract the Chinese people (although I don’t think he really intends to invade Taiwan, WWI shows us that wars often happen when events get out of control.

Currently China is faced with several internal crisis, one financial, one is weather (floods) and one is no energy.

Can China invade Taiwan? Certainly but it takes more planning and preparation then a few troops landing on a friendly beach to prepare for such an invasion.

There are actually two powers in China, the CCP and the People’s Army. There are rumors the PLA is not too happy with the Chairman right now.

I would have to see a lot more prepartion for invasion before believing the threat is real.

Naw! I am thinking just the opposite. If they were going to actually invade Taiwan they would keep their preparations SECRET. This is just propaganda.

I wonder if they are thinking they will have a D Day type of landing with little opposing air support like Germans thankfully held back.

What is it, 60 miles? This is nothing ,like crossing the channel Duran WW II. Even SloJoe in the White House, those ships or planes will meet resistance. Just remember, Taiwan most likely has cruise missiles and 3 Gorges is in range.

When it comes down to folks either fighting for a king or be shot by that king, and folks fighting to preserve their freedom, history shows the king’s troops fizzle.
