Before the proliferation of wireless phones (even in Haiti!) there was the telebouche...word of mouth person to person usually initiated by radio.
I expect the Mexican gov paid Haitians or Creole-speaking Mexicans to spread the word that SleepyJoe had thrown the doors open and this was going to be a limited opportunity.
Add free bus rides to the Rio Grande area during this recent Mexican fete and voila!

I have been over that bridge, where all these people are camped out, more times than I want to remember. We used to go over to Mexico regularly, to have a nice, inexpensive dinner. I wouldn’t get anywhere near the place now.

Maybe somebody can ask them who chartered the flights, who organized the mass transfer, who in Mexico allowed them into Mexico, who in the USA coordinated with the organizers, and who financed it.
And who ordered the total media silence on the questions that I have just asked.
