But less than 100 miles away, a small town is worrying that its local economy, that's centered around baseball, is getting shut out. Kris Van Cleave traveled to Caledonia, Minnesota, where a factory partially owned by MLB is closing up shop and shipping jobs overseas.

Somewhat related. I was going to buy a cutting board because the label said “made from Pacific Northwest Lumber”. Turns out the board was made in China. So it was cheaper for a company to ship lumber across the pacific, have it sliced and glued into a board, shipped back over the pacific and then sent to retailers comapred to having a factory in Washington or Oregon.

I wonder if it is like guitars where this country will no longer allow a reasonable harvest of the right quality woods.
Total guess on my part.

Yep. If the MLP Player’s union had a spine, they would tell MLB to keep the factory running or go on strike. Going onto playoffs, that would be devastating.

Marruci is an up and coming bat used by MLB players. Their wood bats are made in Baton Rouge.

That is a very good idea, actually.

Bringing manufacturing back to America is a BIG issue.

Someone needs to start. How about right here, and right now.

Right here.

If bats are made of : “ Ash, Birch, Hard Maple, *Hickory or *Red Oak.”

Isn’t maple the best? But where is China going to get the maple wood from?

Why stop there? Think of the salary cap savings if they import Chinese players.

The union boys were probably too busy taking knees that they didn’t have time to cut wood.
