To be fair, starting with five eye countries that you already have longstanding and deep Intel sharing arrangements and then picking a subset of that group is leagues easier than creating a new group with non-five eyes countries. This doesn’t sound nearly as partisan or sinister as the media is portraying it, just government bureaucrats being government bureaucrats.
