Maybe this is a clever ploy by Putin to get us to bankrupt ourselves. Sort of a reverse-Reagan caper. “We will run war games and fool the Americans into spending themselves to oblivion”.

I did some work with a bunch of guys that used to work on a variety of the Air Forces Fighters. Sharp dudes. Was told about the capabilities of our stuff and some of the newer weapons systems that they knew about. Smart bombs that can track a target, fire and forget JDAMS that can track to the target itself without the old school crosshairs. One of them was telling me that if the leash were ever taken off with the assets we have, the US could take out all the air defenses of any country in less than a few hours.
They talk of war games where F15s and F22s are not allowed to use the weapon systems to make it fair. Apparently, during a fight with Syria, the Israeli F15s were shooting Syrian jets as they were taking off, while they were flying over the Mediterranean.
