Unplugged? California lawmakers send Newsom bill that could ban gas generators

Legislation to restrict the use of gas-powered landscaping equipment in California also would outlaw portable generators in a state only a year removed from rolling power outages amid deadly heat.

Should Newsom sign the bill, which cleared the California State Legislature on Thursday, it could ban another gas-powered necessity: portable generators.

The Portable Generator Manufacturers’ Association warned AB 1346 could lead to a ban on the sale of portable generators in California as soon as 2024.

“No matter how well-intentioned this bill might be, it makes a critical error in equating portable generators with other small off-road engine equipment,” said Joseph Harding, technical director of PGMA.

The final amendment of the legislation asks the California Air Resources Board to consider the feasibility of a generator or emergency response phaseout based on the availability of zero-emission options but puts no restriction on banning the machines. A legislative analysis of the bill said generators were the highest source of pollution from SOREs in California.

This a ridiculous idea and he should be sued.
How are hospitals, nursing homes and Alzheimer’s centers supposed to operate in the dark?

So after they've destroyed the energy sector you're freezing and in the dark with your dead Tesla, you can't even save yourself.

Government that despises and ruins its own people is the enemy.

In a state that can’t keep the lights on they want to ban generators. Californians, the democrats are in charge so learn to start a fire and cook food over it, you will be living in caves pretty soon.

ban on the sale of portable generators

Please note that wealthy celebrities, dem donors, and super-rich politicians likely all have standby generators which keep the whole house running fine during power outages and are not considered portable. Portables are just for the unwashed rabble, you see.

“How are hospitals, nursing homes and Alzheimer’s centers supposed to operate in the dark?”

Wait! *flipping through liberal reasons* Ah, here it is: “FOR THE CHILDREN!”

BTW, have you wondered how they detect whether you are using your illegal fireplace? Because satellite sensors can detect the heat bloom and chimney smoke. The same will be true of gas generators. They’ll either send you a ticket in the mail or have someone come by, smash your door, handcuff you on the couch, shoot the Pomeranian*, and steal your generator.

* They’ll probably have to haul him out from under the bed.

So, the small gasoline engines that run these portable generators should be replaced by small Diesel engines?

The logical substitute would be a natural gas connection or a propane tank connection. But the California Air Resources Board would find something wrong with that alternative as well.

Buncha cuffing National Socialist types.

The city in which I live has recoded an all-time low temperature of 45 degrees. I won’t be freezing anything soon.

Nonetheless, this is nuts and hopefully Governor Elder can fix it!

I don’t know how this idiot got to be governor.
He’s as dumb as a rock.
His election must have been another fake.
Ballots should have to be counted outside where ANYONE can watch.
No more secret counting and secret ballots in secret buildings.

To keep the use of animals like horses wasn’t there similar restrictive laws about the use of gas propelled horseless carriages enacted by states?
