This is the spotted owl. It is a species. There are three separate subspecies recognized, which can be told apart be DNA testing. But they were all established for political reasons to support Endangered Species act litigation.
There is no “Delta” per se.
The vaccine was a complete failure and people easily still catch covid despite being vaccinated. They had two options, admit the vaccine is worthless, OR say that these are a new variant that gets around the vaccine.
They chose option 2. There is no delta except in the minds except in laboratory esoterica, and the minds of the covid vax pushers.

There is not enough sequencing being done to determine what percentage of infections are from which variant - they take samples and multiply for the totals of each “variant”.
