An aide to former Vice President Mike Pence is dispelling what she's calling the "myth" that he refers to his wife as "mother."
"This is a myth that drives me crazy," Alyssa Farah, a former press secretary for Pence, said on the inaugural episode of "One Decision," a global affairs podcast hosted by journalist Michelle Kosinski and former MI6 chief Richard Dearlove.
"This has driven me crazy for years because it's weird. That would be very weird if he called her mother," Farah said of Pence's supposed pet name for his wife, Karen.
The "myth" seemingly originated from a 2017 Rolling Stone article, which cited an anonymous source who said at a dinner with lawmakers the then-Indiana governor referred to his wife of more than three decades as "mother."

I think that French President may refer to his wife as ‘mother’, or perhaps ‘mama’. She’s the right age to be his ‘mama’.
i would absolutely hate it if my husband referred to me as Mother.
But I know couples that call each other Mommy and Daddy.

I can see a man calling his wife (the mother of his children)
mother, out of respect for her position in the family.
It doesn’t have to mean a reference to his own mother or that

I’m not a fan of Pence, but there are times when people try

Reagan did the same to Nancy. I think it’s really something that’s ingrained in our culture. When someone gets shot, the very first thing they do is call out for their Momma.
I believe Biden does. I guess it is better than him calling her “Grandma”. There is little left of the man, a child could out-think him.
Reagan called his wife “Mommie”. Nothing wrong with that term of endearment.
In any of them get the nomination I think I'll sit it out. I'm done voting for Bush-wing candidates. McCain and Romney are the last ever. Period.
Our child just had a baby two days ago. For the past couple of days I have called my wife grandma a few times.

It really doesn’t matter. His political career is over. Few will vote for him. Pence should save himself from further shame and embarrassment by retiring from public life.
So what if he does, he is of the same age as many of us who call our wives of many decades, Mother, Mama or Grandma or even Honey.
I call my wife Grandma damn near every time, She calls me Grandpa.
I have never been a fan of Pence, but this is simply slander by implication. Someone is trying to stir up some shit about Pence. I find that about as low as a human can stoop.
It has long been held that Ronald Reagan called Nancy “mommy.” I tend to believe it, and don’t think it was a bad thing. They adored each other.
When I talk to my daugher about my wife I call her Mom because that’s what my daughter recognizes. I don’t call my wife that but once or twice it slipped out because of my referring to her that way with my daughter. I could see someone with kids just saying ‘lets just go with it’. Not me but I could see it happening.

That was and is a pretty common term of endearment toward wives and girlfriends...
My husband and many guys call their spouses “Mom” or “Mamma” (may be a Southern thayng). It comes from having kids and is a term of endearment. I also think it’s so sweet when men refer to their wives as “My Bride”. Even after years of being married.
In Macron’s case? Eeeeeh....that’s a bit messed up.
