An Air Force veteran who owns three upstate New York properties has been forced to live in her car because her tenants have refused to pay rent thanks to the eviction moratorium.

Brandie LaCasse told CBS News that she has been living at friends’ homes and out of her car with her young daughter. She said she is owed more than $23,000 in unpaid rent but cannot force her tenants to pay or leave because of federal and state moratoriums on evictions.

“I’ve cried many nights, like thinking, ‘Where’s my money?'” the single mom said. “I don’t understand how they can give my private property to somebody to live for free. I bought that property. I fixed it up with my blood, sweat and tears.”

She added, “I invested in these properties, never thinking I wouldn’t have a place to live. I just want my house. That’s it.

I understand not letting go, but stop supporting deadbeats. Don't fix anything. Declare bankruptcy. It doesn't say whether she was in long enough for a pension.

When a group of non-elected bureaucrats violates the US Constitution - don’t get mad. Get even.

Make life so miserable the tenants want to move out.

On youtube ,there was a landlord in Connecticut who rented a beach house and got screwed royally...He was finally able to evict ,but it took a year and a half and no rent for that entire time during the pandemic...He admitted he didn’t do a background check..... He won;t be making that mistake again.....

Veteran. Doesn’t mean anything unless you’re the media playing on one’s emotions. Single parent? Lotta them out there. So what’s the solution? The MSM isn’t helping and neither are the Democrats. She’s in the wrong business. Easy on the eyes. That will help.

Sorry, but you just got picked by the elite to pay for COVID.

Single mom? Too bad.

From here on,every landlord better ask for references from past landlords and 2-3 months security.....There will be a lot of deadbeats looking for new digs

A friend of mine runs a roofing company. In his spare time he maintains 3 rental properties he owns. He works his ass off

Two of his tents have been paying their rent, but one tenant (single mom w/ two kids) was already behind two months when covid hit. She stayed, paying no rent, until last month, when she disappeared in the middle of the night. She left the house trashed on the inside.

so now he’s out $25K, plus repairs on the place.

Its disgusting what our government does to the working and middle class of this country.

My tenants have kept paying, thank heavens. Really don’t want to end up selling to Blackrock, gotta a funny feeling their tenants will have to pay.

Don’t do that, there are laws against landlords taking these kinds of punitive actions against tenants, even bad ones. She could find herself in a great deal of trouble, maybe even jail.

Sorry, Socialists/Progressives/Communists have no private property. Not even their own bodies.

She should have sold out the minute the government instituted the rent moratorium. Maybe sold to friends, or house swapped with them so all could break semi-even.

Only month to month leases .
Never buy rentals in a blue state or blue county like FT Lauderdale.
Especially No major lefty cities .
FL stop that eviction crap last summer.
Hire private eye and track tenant to see if they work .

My brother & sister in law moved, but wanted to keep their place on a mountain top in NC. They rented out to a “nice” young couple with children. They trashed the place, never picked up dog feces, & tried every game in the book. Finally sheriff’s deputies escorted them out. They were out labor & about $25,000 in getting things replaced.

My brother swore he would never again be a landlord. And he did not do a background check.

Yep. It's starting. Looks like evil landlords found a solution to any future eviction moratorium.

Here’s a NYC story. I’m pi$$ed.
I have a RE agent who rents out the apartments in my building. He lives in a huge building owned by the Catholic church. Thus this building does not pay taxes. It doesn’t matter if their tenants pay or do not pay rent because, hey! they’re tax exempt! In January, the manager of that building went around telling the tenants not to pay rent. They didn’t. The church then filed for the non paying tenants to get NYC to pay the rents. How cool is that?! A church property scamming NYC taxpayers. They don’t need the money to survive yet NYC helps them out!
Now we have this veteran, evicted out of her property because of non paying tenants who were receiving stimulus checks, unemployment, food stamps, heap etc... and the city does not help the small property owners.

The guy Vegas just went over and Shot his Tenants for non payment of the rent too long, but he was 78 so Life in prison isn’t that long, even though I would probably find him not guilty.
