Trump says he realized he hired “a Loser” in General Mark Milley

Appearing via phone with Greg Kelly on NewmaxTV Wednesday, Former President Trump said he realized he hired “a loser” in General Mark Milley.

“He was recommended by people that I didn’t think much of, and he was also recommended by a couple of people that I thought were just absolutely terrible,” Trump said. “I decided, you know, Mattis, I call them the world’s most overrated general. Mattis hated him, hated him. I figured based on the fact that I thought very little of Mattis.

We did a great job without Mattis. Once I got rid of Mattis, we took over — we knocked out ISIS and everything else. I said, ‘if he hates Milley that much, maybe the guy will be all right.”

“I found him to be very average or less than average,” Trump continued. “I will say this when he walked with the president of the United States to a church that had been burned down almost if they didn’t have the fireproofing, which was just put up.

It was literally so amazing because that church was built at the same time as the White House. They went up together. When he went and took that walk, and then he apologized because the radical left started getting on him, I realized I had a loser. I paid very little respect to him. He wasn’t very good. So I am not a fan of his.”

Discussing Biden’s doomed withdrawal from Afghanistan that was quickly followed by a Taliban takeover, Trump said “I would not have made that decision again and look at what he’s done. He took the military out before he got the civilians out of before he got us, citizens, out. So that would show gross incompetence.”

In June, Milley said it was important for service members to understand critical race theory and rejected Republican claims the study of the topic was bad for morale.

Milley also took issue of being referred to as “woke.”

“I personally find it offensive that we are accusing the United States military, our general officers, our noncommisioned officers of being quote ‘woke’” Milley said.

Far from the only loser he hired.......

I really did expect him to be better at picking people, although to be fair he had no way of knowing how many of them were duplicitous Bush League Republicans.

If Milley actually deserves his post, it’s over. China can just come in and take over in a day.

He hired thousands, even at the top he hired hundreds, he relied upon others. Put yourself in that position, and. have you ever misjudged somebody? Happens all the time, you hire someone who interviews great, but can't do the job.

Trump’s weak spot is taking the word of people of questionable integrity to vouch for others with similar ethical credentials.

Melania should have been his chief of staff from the get-go.

She’s the street-smart side of the family.

The problem is frankly, there wasn’t much to choose from.

The good people didn’t want the jobs, because of the hassle they’d get from their leftist friends and colleagues. And also China Mitch made it clear that anyone not on his approved list would be DOA in the Senate.

The pickings in DC were slim - pretty much no one in DC who had the patina of experience wanted Trump in charge. He had no choice but to rely on others. As I recall he had a hard time finding people to fill some positions.

I’m not sure if he’s abrasive or not - he did go through some people fairly quickly. I once read something by someone who did a business deal with him. Apparently 3 ivy league types who were used to being treated with the upmost respect went to meet DJT at his office in Trump Tower. The guy said that he can’t say they particularly liked DJT, and inferred that they were used to more butt kissing due to their positions in life, but that they got a fair deal and it was done quickly.

Personally I like people who say what they mean and mean what they say. Results matter - not butt kissing.

I use to be in the interview chain at my former company (retired). I would look over the resume and have a casual talk with the applicant. Many times I would give a thumbs down on a candidate however my boss hired them anyway. All of them were gone within a year or two. I was there 28. Go figure.

Well, there was the pool of 197 Obama fired.

Yup - the number of backstabbers was beyond belief. I expect a lot better hires in his second term.

Two strengths I thought he had when he first ran:

1. His ability to hire good people.

2. His ability to fire.

And absolutely no more swamp people in important roles. I gave Trump the benefit of the doubt when Bill Barr was hired, but knowing he worked for Bush Sr. made me uncomfortable. I was right to trust that initial instinct.

Trump would have had better results with his cabinet choosing people at random from the phone book over lifetime politicians. And if Mitch objects to approving this choices in the Senate tell him to get bent.

Trump hired plenty of losers. That is for sure. He even hired a bunch for the USSC.

He could only choose from what Cocaine Mitch would let him have.

His cabinet was appointed that didn’t need congress approval and he made poor choices there even. Sessions? Prince Reibus? As recently as last year Trump was still singing his praises for him. Wasn’t it determined Prince Reibus was the leaker?

Trump’s weak spot is taking the word of people of questionable integrity to vouch for others with similar ethical credentials.

President Trump would've been better served had he listened more to Ann Coulter and listened less to the people he surrounded himself with in the White House who never wanted him to be president in the first place.
