A Tampa-area school district, the eighth largest in the U.S., voted on Wednesday to issue a mask mandate after more than 10,000 students and staff members were forced into quarantine or isolation at the start of the school year.
The decision by the Hillsborough County School District conflicts with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis's order that parents be given an option to opt their kids out of wearing masks at schools. The decision by the school board requires a doctor's note to prove a child cannot wear a mask, according to local Fox affiliate WTVT.
"There is an immediate danger to the public health, safety, and welfare," board member Nadia Combs said.

Board chair Lynn Gray appealed to those against the measure, arguing it was being done to protect the health of children.
“If we’re just asking for a 30-day protective measure, isn’t that the least that we can do for our children?” Gray said. “If it saves one life, 10 hospitalizations, isn’t that the least we can do?”

I grew up in Tampa/Hillsborough Co. Went to Leto High School. Overpopulated so badly in the late 70’s to early 80’s we had split sessions. Underclassmen went in the afternoons, upper in the mornings. It was back then, and certainly still is today, a hot mess!
Where is the science behind masks doing anything... isolation yes to some extent, but masks are meaningless.
It won’t save any lives or infections. Lynn, please learn some science. Masks are worthless at best.

If you can’t provide technical specifications for the required masks, there is simply no scientific basis for pretending the ability to predict the effectiveness of “masks”.
We have the CDC citing a “study” of over 1 million children wearing masks to school, suggesting that the masks help minimize the spread of COVID, when in fact, their “study” contained NO CORRESPONDING CONTROL GROUP!!!!
That is NOT “Science”, that IS PROPAGANDA!!!!
We have 31 Studies and articles undercutting the utility of masks for stopping Covid, but we only need to cite ONE!:

Do they ever say why 10,000 were forced into quarantine or isolation? Quite a statement to make and then provide no explanation. Typical of the "journalism" practiced in 21st century America.
If the masks worked so well then the virus would have died out last year. We keep doing the same thing and expect a different result.
It is quite obvious if you see videos of people working in virology labs they have full isolation suits with oxygen lines.
To think a cloth mask can stop a virus 100 nanometers in diameter just makes no sense...the virus can even get by 200 nm filters used for sterile filtration.
Probably a lie. These people have no problem with making up numbers. If you call them out on it and demand raw numbers they can’t give them to you because they don’t exist.

That makes no sense. They are supposed to be isolated and quarantined but they’re still going to school. So, what, it is only their noses that are quarantined?
The masks worked so well that only 600,000 Americans supposedly died of COVID.
If one student in a class tests positive then the whole class has to quarantine. It doesn’t take long to run up the numbers knowing how ‘accurate’ the tests are.

Very, very, very weak at best. Most of the science says medically, it makes things worse. Nobody addresses the tradeoffs. Just read kid’s IQ’s dropped last year.
Take a rag, maybe washed recently. Now tell your kid to hang it over his face for while. After a week, it will be a bacteria festival.
They drop it on the floor, step on them, shove them in their pockets, fo to the bathroom, remove and replace without washing...etc.
Child abuse.
