I suspect that you are confusing a "statement of fact" with an "unsupported claim" and/or "statement of feeling."

If such people would restrict themselves to making true "statements of fact" - i.e., that are falsifiable - whereupon you could then proffer corresponding counter-evidence, then a productive discussion could ensue.

But they don't do that.
