The covid vaccines were given emergency use authorization to "prevent" covid...NOT to reduce hospitalizations or deaths.
Pfizer's EUA:
"the FDA decision is based on the totality of scientific evidence available showing that the product may be effective to prevent COVID-19 during the COVID-19 pandemic and that the known and potential benefits of the product outweigh the known and potential risks of the product. All of these criteria must be met to allow for the product to be used in the treatment of patients during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The EUA for the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine is in effect for the duration of the COVID-19 EUA declaration justifying emergency use of these products, unless terminated or revoked (after which the products may no longer be used)."
Moderna's EUA: "Having concluded that the criteria for issuance of this authorization under Section 564(c) of the Act are met, I am authorizing the emergency use of Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine for the prevention of COVID-19"
Janssens's EUA: "On February 27, 2021, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for emergency use of the Janssen COVID-19 Vaccine for the prevention of COVID-19 for individuals 18 years of age and older pursuant to Section 564 of the Act."
If they want to make the case that the purpose of these experimental vaccines is NOW about preventing hospitalizations and/or death....they MUST revoke their current EUA's and submit new ones for approval for emergency use.
When looking at stories, or data, keep in mind the timeframe. Is the data they are sharing/reporting regarding the entire vaccination timeline (from Jan)? Or, is it what's happening recently, in the last week or last month? The following are about the current surge.

Ok my friends, Please allow me to share with you what a FReeper has been observing regarding the vaccines so far....
I am sharing his post here because I agree with him ( with some modifications on my part ).
So here are the expectations of the vaccine from a generic non-political basic medical info article:

Yes, but it is relatively rare. COVID-19 vaccines are not 100% effective at preventing COVID-19, so it makes sense that people have gotten COVID-19 even after being fully vaccinated. It’s a good reminder that fully vaccinated people are not invincible and still need to take many of the same precautions as before.
* That said, studies show the vaccines are very good at preventing severe cases of COVID and hospitalizations. So while you can still get COVID-19, you’re less likely to become very sick with it after vaccination.
1) Ok so the take ways are the “vaccine” (they don’t specify which) is expected to make covid-19 cases “relatively rare”. This expectation seems to have been wrong.
2) The other expectation is that the “vaccine” is very good at preventing severe cases and hospitalizations. I have seen conflicting news stories about this, so I think this expectation is not very accurate. Need more data to come to a definite conclusion.
3) The list of possible side effects do not acknowledge the chance of death...despite already there being a HUGE GIGANTIC SPIKE in reported deaths...but I presume the Doctor is just going along with the Orwellian CDC brush off of the GIGANTIC SPIKE as not having any confirmed causal links. So the expectation that it is not potentially deadly is certainly wrong, and alarmingly suppressed by the CDC.
4) Now what about long term negative effects of the “vaccine”? No mention of any bad long term effects in the article. Of course there is no Empirical data one way or the other on long term effects.
The article seems to say its all over in 6 months.
Medically trained Critics of the “vaccine” (those with medical backgrounds ) seem to abound who disagree, some even predicting very dire doom consequences. So the expectations of somebody may be right, but I am not sure which group.
Conclusion: If you are in a very high risk category for taking Covid-19 and don’t have that many years left in your life span (which commonly go together), then it might make medical sense to take it perhaps—or perhaps not. But in all other cases, it is a choice of taking the vaccine or risking Covid and falling in the 99.8% who DO survive the infection. and eventually acquiring NATURAL antibodies.
And for the young and healthy ( especially those under 18 ) it does not seem to be a good choice at all.
That’s the way I see it for now. It could change as new information comes along.
Hmmm… the MATH-IS-HARD crowd suddenly realizes that 90% and 95% are not equal to 100%. This stunning news has totally confused this crowd and led to strident demands to “unauthorized” the vaccines since they are not 100% effective.
“Zero% is better than 95%” is the new motto for this BEFUDDLED crowd.

That’s possible because the vaccines were given to the most vulnerable first. Their much greater vulnerability has been reduced but not eliminated.
MATHEMATICAL EXAMPLE
Imagine on Big Island there are 100000 old folks and 100000 young folks.
Let’s say the risk of Covid death is .5% for unvaccinated old folks and .1% for vaccinated old folks.
Let’s say the risk of Covid death is .01% for unvaccinated young folks folks and .005% for vaccinated young folks.
Imagine 90% of the old folks get vaccinated and 20% of the young folks get vaccinated.
unvaccinated old dead 10000x.5%=50
unvaccinated young dead 80000x.01%=8
vaccinated old dead 90000x.1%=90
vaccinated young dead 20000x.005%=1
The death toll would be 91 vaccinated, 58 unvaccinated.
Because there's an Alternate Universe where they can observe the exact same patients who have NOT been vaccinated.
Depends on your definition of “prevent”...your antibodies (vax induced) and white blood cells do all the ‘work” in knocking out any COVID-19 virus you are exposed to in the wild.
Asymptomatic transmission.

They were warned not to do mass vaccinations during the pandemic.
The vaccines actually don't do much of anything but give people a false, smug sense of security.
They don't stop the transmission of the covid. They don't prevent the covid patient from dying. They don't cure the covid.
All of this self-righteous sense that the vaccinated are the new entitled ones is crazy. The unvaccinated folks are all of the sudden second class citizens and treated like criminals.
When the authorities figure out that the new variants are actually caused by the act of vaccinating millions of people in the midst of the pandemic, they may take a more equitable approach.
Exactly.
You do NOT “vax” your way OUT of a pandemic.
But, they knew that. This is all going to planDEMic.
