I’ve just been getting the already in chunks 🍉 to save the mess. Hit and miss. Lately been getting some that are fairly tasty. The best I ever had was in VA when I was a kid visiting in the 70s. Maybe my taste buds were better back then, but I think fruit and veggies, in general, are not so good anymore.

I suppose seeing the cut pieces would help. And yes, I think fruit and veggies are not as good as when I was much younger. But I did get a couple tomatoes off the neighbor’s plants last week while they were out of town, and I really should try to grow my own if I can ever retire.....

Tomatoes will grow themselves with just a little watering along
the way. May have to keep the weeds pulled out and provide stakes
or wire forms for them to grow up on.

Another Black Holiday?

Geez! Will it never stop?

Not Ft Gordon. It was Ft Stewart. But it was a good distance away somewhere, too long ago to recall. I can still picture that large sign at the entrance. It was hard for a young yankee to figure out why watermelons weren’t allowed at a picnic area!

I was informed it wasn’t the fruit not welcome.

Maybe they were trying to ban “plugged” watermelons.
