Mitt’s the first one I remember pushing the idea. He had no problem getting dems on board for the massive give away program.
Poverty is not a matter of having more money, or less money. It is a state of mind. Poverty implies improvident spending habits, consciously and recklessly dispersing all the medium of exchange that happens to find its way into your possession. Along with that willingness to spend every penny, often goes with a reluctance to find ways to use time with greater efficiency, failing to make every day the best it can be, and succumbing to emotional excesses that form an unending circle of depression and defeatism. In other words, a negative mental attitude generates poverty, not the other way around. But by expecting so little of one’s own capabilities, it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Either Juan is in on the scam, or he is incredibly naive.

1) Abbie Hoffman staged a parody event at the NY Stock Exchange and he and fellow Yuppies threw actual money floating down from a balcony for the stock exchange people to race to pick up.
2) British pounds were thrown into a huge vat of filth in the closing section of the the movie The Magic Christian with Peter Sellers and Ringo Starr, based on the novel by Terry Southern. The Badfinger song “Come and Get It” was played. People sought each other to grab more of the money.

Suuure, because every time a government freebie check (beginning with Katrina) is sent out, parents use it to put healthy food in their kids and a bottle of Mr. Clean to scrub out the garbage dumps they live in. Parents never use them for vacations, new to them cars, bling, hair weaves and fake nails, booze, hookers or drugs.
