A year ago Tang Juan was among those charged by the US Department of Justice
in connection with an alleged scheme to lie about their status as members of China’s military
while in the US conducting research.

In documents filed in federal court in Sacramento, prosecutors asked a judge to dismiss a charge of visa fraud against Juan Tang but gave no reason why.
The trial was set to begin on Monday. A message seeking comment from the U.S. Attorney’s office in Sacramento was not returned.

Co-worker of mine was a Chinese PhD (obtained in US @ UC Davis, not in China).
He told me that he was invited to parties in Sacramento where it turned out they were self criticism sessions run by a PLA officer, to keep the Chinese students and emigres on the party line.
This plant is one of those people. Northern California is honeycombed with them. It’s basically a Chinese colony now, with their legions infiltrated throughout most of the larger companies and kept in line by Chinese State political enforcers.
Likely lying both times. Since 2009 the DOJ and FBI have been weaponized with Obama and Soros acolytes. Even if Trump had taken direct leadership of both agencies, he would have been obstructed at every turn

I think the why is pretty obvious, though the specific mechanisms are unknown. Someone bought a worthless painting for $500K? Someone in Beijing made a phone call to someone at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave? A prosecutor found out they were being reassigned to Nome Alaska?
