Wait a minute. I can see that vandalizing a publicly or privately owned statue is a crime. But how can it be a hate crime? Is hating or showing hate toward an inanimate object now a punishable offense in itself?
If so, is the recent vandalism of the stature of Junipero Serra, who was HISPANIC!, also an horrific hate crime?
