With the subtle hint that Reagan knew more about Iran-Contra than he led on.
“Son, are you going to eat those pickles? Mind if I have ‘em?” And then near the end, when he’s talking about the “war lords” while he’s chomping on a burger and gulping down a soda. I think he starts laughing himself.
“But the food isn’t getting to the people because of....” *swipes a burger and bites into it* “.....Warlords!”
Even in 2000 with Will Ferrell’s impersonation of Bush, the portrayal of Al Gore was not kind to him neither. “Lockbox!”
Fortunately, I have all four seasons of WKRP on DVD...
Whenever I need a shot of humor medicine, I watch a couple of episodes...
Works every time...
If, say, I happen to accidentally hear obunghole say something, I sometimes have to self-medicate with a 90-minute comedy mixture of WKRP + Benny Hill...
Because every time someone yelled, "Get down!" they all hopped up and started dancing.
The black people watching him make fun of black people were rolling on the floor laughing. Watching that triggered me getting more recommendations of different black folk watching very non-PC white comedians and busting a gut laughing at them. They get it, these are just jokes.
SJW losers who want to be outraged at everything and get off on the power of ruining people like they're turning in witches to the inquisition are the only people that want comedy to die. Social media has given them the appearance of being the majority, it's a lie.
That reminds me - Why do people shout “Heads up!” when they mean “Duck!”?
If we can’t laugh at ourselves what can we do?
My other favorite Hartman appearance was as the Alcatraz tour guide in “So I Married An Axe Murderer”
“This way to the cafeteria!”
Pat Paulson does blackface. Hilarious.

These films don’t shoot and edit themselves, ya’ know.
Roku tv has carol burnett and johnny carson.
The nation has regressed and even leftist comedians acknowledge that they are no longer free to make jokes and it isn’t bible thumpers or conservatives who are restricting their material.
>>Most of the funniest comedy today comes from anonymous people online — the people who make internet memes and run anonymous Twitter accounts. Think about that: Random idiots on the internet are way funnier than professional comedians paid millions of dollars a year for one simple reason — only anonymous people can actually be funny without fear.
but sharing those jokes can get your account canceled
There was a time when I could even laugh at leftist comedians, like the late Bill Hicks.
>> In the future there will be no wives and no friends … There will be no laughter, except the laugh of triumph over a defeated enemy. … Always, at every moment, there will be the thrill of victory, the sensation of trampling on an enemy who is helpless.
>>Sounds awful — and this is the world we are voluntarily imprisoning ourselves in. It’s a world where joy and laughter are sinister and suspicious acts, where every private word could be the fodder for a cancellation frenzy
Since the 1980s “THEY’RE REPUBLICANS!” has been considered a valid punchline and it STILL goes on. No joke, no comedy, just targeted hate and finger pointing (by Leftist comedians pretending to be Republicans or to know a Republican voter).
Even John Cleese has had to facepalm at the outbursts by hardline Leftists these days.
And their humor is also on the cancel culture list (and they went after the late Benny Hill over a decade ago).
Richard Nixon appeared on the Tonight Show hosted by Jack Parr after he lost/had the 1960 election stolen from him.
There were earlier times that late night tv could be “serious” (also guests like Lenny Bruce or Jack Kerouac on the Steve Allen Tonight Show).
But with the ascent of Johnny Carson’s Tonight Show it definitely seemed to take a lighter (and more risque) tone. Live for 90 minutes. Inside jokes, ribbing the bandleader, ribbing the sidekick. A nightcap on the day’s frustrations.
We are a world away from that today. Politicize everything is the mantra. And has been for a long time.
