I agree with that to at least some extent. I'd argue, however, there's something else in our cultural differences. Our religion as Christians, particularly Protestants (and Catholics exposed to enough Protestants to pick up on the same culture) has made it normal for us to expand our horizons, get deeper into our relationship with God with our own initiative, it's up to us to read the Bible on our own, etc. Likewise with the centuries of capitalism we had until the past few decades, making it a normal part of our culture to depend on our own abilities to make our lives and our loved ones' lives better.
Until Xi Jinping cracked down harshly on the Chinese Church, China was set to have more Christians than any other country, and in a decade more Christians than the rest of the world combined.
Keep in mind that Mao hated traditional Chinese culture and went about destroying as much as possible to make the new state of CCP-ruled China possible. The only permitted culture in China is the one the CCP creates, which is NOT the one the Chinese people want; they have no say in the matter.
It isn’t religion nor culture that make the difference, its the iron fist of the CCP. Many westerners and particularly Americans have no idea how brutal the CCP actually has become. I tried to explain something of the brutality in the last post, but I guess I’d have to do better.
You have heard much, no doubt, about the Chinese treatment of Uygurs (even though the western press just touches the surface). In China there are 50 some ethnic groups, but the largest, the Han, suppresses all others and only keeps them around for entertainment purposes.
What the Han do to the Uygurs, they do to every other group. And as Han citizens go, they are divided into 3 groups - the CCP Princes and Princesses, the City born, and the Rural. Every one is divided from everyone else with the crap flowing downhill to the Rural folk. When any of them, from any group, protests anything, they are beaten, jailed, killed ... or worse.
There are huge riots going on in China now. Because the CCP irrationally decided it need more vocationally trained people, it made all college degrees vocational. This means the students cannot qualify for jobs, since they will have no college degree. All their studying and hard work, their family’s money is now wasted. Innovation? Not today.
That is not a climate for innovation, invention, rather a climate of fear and oppression where personal survival means being a round peg in a round hole: conform, or die. And if the paranoid CCP decides it wants square holes one day, then to survive, people must become square pegs instantly.
Innovation? Not today.
But yesterday it was different: here a link (http://factsanddetails.com/china/cat2/4sub7/item30.html) to the list of things the Chinese people are credited with inventing, creating in their 3000 year history. What stands in the way today is the CCP.
PV is the impetus for this.
Does apple use these cameras to record the uyghur’s at the apple prison camps?
