A recent report alleges that Apple is making certain employees wear police-grade body cameras in response to recent product leaks.

Front Page Tech reports that Apple is making some of its employees wear “police-grade” body cameras similar to the most popular model used by law enforcement, the Axon Body 2. In a response to regular leaks of the latest Apple products and updates, the company has taken this new step to ensure that trade secrets stay out of the hands of leakers.

Trade secrets?

Such as why they choose not to let the current Mac OS run on any Intel Mac?

China steals 1/4 to 1/2 trillion$ in intellectual property every year.

How in the world are we supposed to believe Asians are so much smarter when a country that has literally 5 times as many brains as ours can't invent their own stuff?

So now the employees have plenty of recordings to leak to Project Veritas.

Isn’t Apple against police?

Body cams or not, they’d still find a way around.

I think they’ll find a lot of those in the restrooms.

It sounds like right out of the movie “The Circle” starring Tom Hanks.

If people acted like adults and not leak secrets this wouldn’t be necessary. But people are idiots and have big mouths and love to steal.

Could also be worried about Jim O’Keefe’s Project Veritas.

I’m sure the perverts at Apple are ecstatic about the opportunity to watch an Apple employee wearing the camera go to the bathroom.

Steal? What? Secrets from the Chinese or maybe stealing information that is illegal and are acting as whistleblowers.

Apple is very concerned about product leaks.
This is not unusual for sensitive projects in high tech.
I was on one at Intel.
We were locked in a room and told only 15 people knew about this and if it got out, they would find the leak.

It never got out.

Okay then. It’ll be okay to chain employees to desks and deny them food or water if they don’t meet their quotas. After all, it’s their company.

East Germany did not use body cams because they were not invented then. They used little old grannies on 3-4 floors with regular cameras to photograph people of interest.

Meanwhile APPL has a very long history of enforcing secrecy on its campus. Reason: leaks have destroyed product launches in the past. Likely other companies that depend on secrecy use them also.

Because the CCP harshly discourages innovation, not because the Chinese people are incapable. Their idea is to create a nation of apathetic sheep. Even billionaires are not safe - Jack Ma ($142.5 billion), Alibaba founder (the Chinese Amazon counterpart), has been disappeared for some time now, many others are in prison, disappeared, shot. Anything that in the slightest is perceived by the CCP to be criticism of it is dealt with harshly and what is not criticism today could well be tomorrow. Sticking a hair out of line is to get slapped down violently.

The difference between the DDR and Apple is that the Apple employees who don’t want to do it can quit. Presumably they are highly qualified in systems development and there is always a demand for such people. The downside is that they would lose accumulated benefits. But if corporate scrutiny of their every breath bothers them them have a choice.

A recent report alleges that Apple is making certain employees wear police-grade body cameras in response to recent product leaks.

My take:

Hilariously paranoid, and absolutely futile.

But hey, it's gotta be making the work environment there a lot of fun.
