To: ebb tide

In our state the death penalty is hardly ever used because it is insanely expensive to take someone all the way from arrest to the chair (or needle nowadays). Most just get life with no parole. The law does remain on the books, however.

Although the death penalty should be more widely used, even just having it on the books, and even occasionally used probably persuades some felons to accept life without parole without a fight.
