I don’t know about that.
I am in Vietnam, and was (very) pleasantly surprised how friendly the Vietnamese are, and how anti-Chinese they all are, except for those who are Vietnamese-Chinese of course.
Stick with blocking Chinese, in my view (I have been here for five years now)
Note: please be aware I was in China very early. For several years.
China and Taiwan, both.
Vietnam is entirely different, in my view. Neutral and balanced. They are basically fundamentally opposed to China, to the extent that China acts superior (and that seems to be most of the time now)
Vietnam can be very friendly with America, if we are friendly with them.
In my view.
I thought they were anti Chinese, even when I was in Vietnam, back in the 70s.
While that is true now, there are other countries also not friendly with the US that could be doing the same thing.
There’s something about foreign interests owning American land that I just don’t like.
